Clutch shudder and loose gears

I have a Nissan Almera Tino 1.8 SE2 2001 model. I took the vehicle in to have the clutch replaced. When I received the vehicle back the gears felt really loose and the clutch shuddered when ever I pulled away in first gear. I took the vehicle back to the garage who tested the car and said there was nothing wrong with it and nothing that they could do! Please help as it seem to be getting worse....

It sounds to me like the clutch is slipping or it was not properly adjusted. I would take it back and tell them to take it out for a drive around the block. If they still refuse to do anything about it, take it to another garage and get their opinion. Better yet, get a written estimate. Then take it back to the garage that put the clutch in and tell them either fix the problem for free or you are going to take it elsewhere to get it fixed and sue them in small claims court. I do know that when i replaced my clutch, you need to have about a 100 mile break in. But still, the gears should not be loose and it should shudder. If anything, a new clutch will grab hard with very little play untill it is broke in.

Chances are the shop did not resurface the flywheel and the surface is scored causing the chatter you feel, there is nothing you can do except for insisting they resurface the flywheel to complete the job correctly.

SOURCE: Clutch shudder and loose gears

Who ever did the job has a right to fix it. They probably didn't want to deal with it and waste their time and money to remedy the problem. Call them, and tell them, that if they don't want to find the cause, that you will get a lawyer involved, that should put a fire under their butts. Keep your receipts for proof of what was done.

Gregory, your throw out clutch bearing is worn. You should just install a new clutch kit.

Nissan almera loose clutch pedal

It sounds like the hydraulic clutch is failing or the car just has a light clutch feel. I suggest you have a local shop push the clutch and see what they think.

lol. That sounds unusual to me that they would change the clutch. But, I would ask them if the shudder in first gear is due to loose engine mounts or if when they changed the clutch, they used a new pressure plate and checked the flywheel for warpage?
