Depending on the engine temperature the fan is supposed to remain on after you turn the engine off, until the engine reaches a preset cooler temperature. when it reaches cooler temperature usually within 5 minutes or so it should cut off... if you cut it off and it is running 30 minutes later.. then there is a problem with the fan relay or temperature sending unit.

In some models, if car it too hot, cooling fan is designed to stay on even after you turn off the engine. This feature might be defective, probably some circuit problem or a relay or something similar and fan stays on even after the car is cool enogh.
You should look for technical assitance to fince and repair the problem.

2002 Suburban_ Engine off but air stays on. When engine is on a/c light stays on & ait stays on even if the fan is turned off

Fan will run for a certain period of time after shutting down motor of vehicle. This is normal. Your engine is still hot when you turn the key off. There are sensors that tell the computer when the engine is cool enough for the fans to shut off.

Why does my fan keep running in my 2003 Volvo S 60 after the car is off?

It can be faulty fan relay. The relay is not turning the system off.Or its wire short issue.Even with ignition off ,the fan relay is getting power so its not letting the fan to turn off.Bypass the fan control relay and see if still the fan works with ignition off or not.

I have a 1997 Ford Thunderbird. Upon turning the ignition key the cooling fan turns on and the car will not start. There is nothing you can do to make the car start until the cooling fan turns off which...

I would hate to tell to replace any parts without doing some testing , The cooling fan is controlled the PCM - engine computer through the CCRM - constant control relay module . The only thing i can would suggest is you have it hooked up to factory scan tool to check for DTC'S - diagnostic trouble codes an have scan data looked at . Different sensor inputs to the PCM , ECT - engine coolant temp sensor, IAT - intake air temp etc.... If there are no codes ,check power an ground circuits of the PCM . If the cooling fan stayed on all the time i would say the CCRM was bad , still could be , but with out testing this is just a guess . Do you know how to do automotive electrical testing using a test light , volt meter ? How to read an use a wiring diagram ? You can find free wiring diagrams here
http://www.bbbind.com/free_tsb.html Enter vehicle info . year , make , model an engine ! Then under system click on engine , then under subsystem click on cooling fans . Good luck !

Does the fan always run

Cooling fans only run when the temp,of the coolant get to about 215 to 218 degrees, and shut them selves off, when the engine cools down,if they do not cut off,the engine is not cooling down, now,if the ac is on,the cooling fans will stay on until the ac is shut off.

Why does my radiator cooling fan remain on after I turn off the ignition?

The car has a computer that is linked to the engine. It is hard wired to it meaning the computer is always on. Upon shutting your engine off taking the keys in hand the computer is still on sensing the engines temperture. The coolant sensor will send power to the relay to keep the fans running untill cooled down enough. Then the sensor will cut off power to the relay shutting off the fans

Cooling fan stays on when car is off. Took off battery cables to stop it. Is it suppose to run after cars off until engines cool?? Thanks, Chloe

It would be normal for the cooling fans to run after you shut the car off because the power to the fans is turned on and off by a thermostat and not the key. Don't worry about it unless it runs for more than 15-20 minutes when you shut the car off. It may run that long in summer if the car is hot but less in the winter. Hope this helps.
