It doesn't have one. The hall effect sensor in the distributor does that job.

SOURCE: 2002 F250 Super Duty SuperCab: replace crankshaft sensor...

Also called the cam sensor on the 7.3. It is located in the front of the engine just above the harmonic balancer just to the right. 10mm Bolt holds it in. Easier to get to from below going up behind radiator. Disconnect plug then remove bolt then wiggle it out. Make sure oring came with it and then replace with a black one. Some people say to use a blue one but i have had no trouble with a black one from Autozone.

96 ford diesel f250 7.3 turns over, lots of juice just won't fire

Check for a crankshaft position sensor circuit being open, or the crankshaft position sensor is bad.

Try to spray starting fluid into the intake of the engine, and then if it starts for a few seconds, then it's a bad fuel delivery problem like a fuel pump or clogged fuel filter.

If the glow plugs aren't working then the Diesel won't fire up.

How old is the Diesel in the truck? Is it out of season?

Crankshaft Position (CP) Sensor OPERATION The CP sensor is mounted on the right front of some V8 engines, is a variable reluctance sensor triggered by a trigger pulse wheel (36 minus 1 tooth). Its purpose is to provide the PCM with an accurate ignition timing reference (when the piston reaches 10 degrees BTDC) and injector operation information (twice each crankshaft revolution). The crankshaft vibration damper is fitted with a 4 lobe pulse ring. As the crankshaft rotates, the pulse ring lobes interrupt the magnetic field at the tip of the CP sensor.
TESTING -crankshaft position sensor Using DVOM on the AC scale and set to monitor less than 5V, measure voltage between the sensor Cylinder Identification (CID) terminal and ground. The sensor is okay if the voltage reading varies more than 0.1V AC with the engine running at varying RPM.

2002 Ford F250 7.3 200,000 plus miles running great but after running for about 30 minutes shut off it won't fire for about 20 minutes replaced Cam sensor where else do I look Larry

You should be getting the check engine light on. Take the truck to Autozone or similar business for a free computer scan (they will be happy to sell you any needed parts). The crankshaft sensor is the other critical sensor that controls fuel injection and ignition. The scan results should point that out if it is a problem. Hope this gets you running again!

No start no rpm during cranking replaced cam sen,

engine speed is calculated from the crankshaft sensor, not the cam sensor. cam sensor only used to denote no 1 cyl TDC
