there are 4 steps to check and you've mentioned all but one the relay which cuts the fan on'off. At an elec shop you check in this order power to fuse block, fuse & output side, temp sensor, relay, and fan motors. Get a new relay

My car just today started overheating. My landlord says it's either a blown head gasket or a stuck thermostat? Can help? The water pump is okay...

Check and make sure coolant level is good, also check that elec. radiator fan motor is working, fan motor should come on right away with a/c on, if it don't more then likely bad radiator fan motor, if it comes on, then we know fan motor is good, turn a/c back off, fan motor should come on at about 220 deg. if it does after engine is warm, with engine off feel both upper and lower radiator hoses, careful, if thermostat is working right both will be hot, if only one is hot, replace thermostat, if fan motor did not come on with a/c off start checking coolant temp. sensor.Hope this was very helpful.

Why would the car be overheating if the coolant reservoir is full?

A. Your thermostat is bad
B. Your cooling fans are not operating correctly
C. Your radiator is dirty enough to prevent good airflow from front to rear
Try checking C first wash the radiator out from the engine side with a high pressure hose, this will take about 10 minutes to do a good job, the local car wash is a great place to do this

Do your cooling fans come on? At any time? You should be able to hear them run with the hood open

If these 2 don't solve the issue it is time to change the thermostat

Cooling Fan won't come on, coolant flows into overflow tank

there is a switch in the engine intake or cylinder head that controls the cooling fans. The switch is the one with only 1 green wire hooked to it. Turn the key to run, with the engine stopped pull this wire off and touch it to a ground( cylinder head, engine block) and the fan should start, if not look at the fuse, if it does you need to replace the switch.

What would cause my radiator fans not to run

A lot of different things fall into this senario.Low coolant level, air in the cooling system, and a stuck thermostat,or,a bad coolant sensor,or even a bad cooling fan relay,or the cooling fans are bad.Turn the defrost on or the ac,the cooling fans should come on if the fans, and the relay are ok,if so,replace the thermostat, and coolant sensor, and bleed the cooling system of air.

engine coolant temperature sensor unit!? you say you had a thermostat issue some times if you over heat these the switch above might cause malfunction! I just spent 7 hours on relays!! with engine running un plug coolant sensor temp switch if your fan comes on you have no relay issues!! or ground problem keep in mind this switch tells the system the temperature then when reached sends signals to relay the fan to come on! when I unplugged mine fan ran plugged it back in off!!! replaced switch works great this is the true way to test don't get$$ it out hope this helps you out also be sure you have no air locks in your cooling system and you properly bleeded out all air sense you changed thermostat.John
