We had some subzero weather while I was on vacation. My 2004 Jaguar was parked outside for several weeks. We had another very cold, icy day, and heater did not work. Fan works, rear window defroster works, but no hot air blowing at high setting. What could the problem be? Is this something we can fix? Also driver door will not open sometimes in cold or heat First noticed the problem when it was hot. Had a part replaced and was working fine. Then we had some extreme cold and experienced the same problem. Your thoughts?

What is happening here is that the faster the heater blows air through the fan, the more it cools the liquid in the heater core, and so heat output is reduced. The root of the problem is either the engine is not warming up enough, or the heater core, and/or heater core lines, are plugged up, not allowing the water to circulate properly in the heater core. Here is what I would try.

1. Top off the radiator and overflow.
2. Is the engine warming up properly? Is your temperature gauge showing normal temperatures? If it is not, then replace the thermostat.
3. If steps 1 and 2 do not solve the problem, get the vehicle in a shop, locate the heater core lines, take them apart and flush out the heater core. Look for blockages in the fittings. Do a flow test on the core. It may be clogged and need to be replaced.

Heater problem first:
You say no hot air at high setting. Is that no heat or no air blowing?

98 astro awd doesnt like to start in real cold weather (-18C) otherwise runs fine

I have a 98 and we just had a cold snap where it was super cold and I didn't start it for about a week. I had just got a new battery because mine tested out bad. Everything was good but now it doesn't want to get fuel. Cleaned all battery and relay connections and it's turning over great and fires with starting fluid but won't start. Guy at Napa said the fuel pump on these are known to not work well in the cold and suggested to warm the tank. I'm parked outside and can't move it to get it inside somewhere. Anyone know of good solution to this fuel pump not working in cold temps issue?

I have a jaguar 2000 S-Type, around 98 k miles. I drive it about 5 times a week for about 1 hour each day. Recently, I parked it in the back as there was a severe snow alert and did not drive it for about...

Check your battery with a volt meter. When it gets cold, the plates inside the battery restrict the amperage needed on your car. Get a fresh battery to avoid the hassle. When the current doesn't flow thru the battery due to cold weather, not even a jump will help because its still almost an open circuit. Keep the new battery warm and install it in your jag. start it immediately to get it warmed up. Check your antifreeze level also. If you need it, only put DexCool in concentrated form during your climate chill. It will mix with the diluted antifreeze in the system anyways. Good luck.

Immobiliser won't unlock on XJ TDVi

Hi

I suspect the cold weather was the fundamental problem, usually emanating from a battery voltage drop, and kicking in the on board computer gremlins.

Jags just don't like it !

Lets hope the weather improves for you there in UK, and your little gremlin does not return.

Good Luck !

John.

U can't shift it out of park because the battery is dead, park is locked until the brak lights are activated (no power no lights), this 12 volt brak light signal un-locks the park solenoid.
