Teh mechanic says nothing is wrong and that my lights are working properly. No other car has yellow running lights. If these are supposed to be on as running lights, can I change the yellow for red plastic?
Hi Wendilynn
This will depend on what country you are from and where the car is from also as in the USA the blinker lights are running lights that stay on i do not think you can get red covers for them as then you will have red blinkers and they should be orange, the only way i can think of a work around is, disconnect the wires for the blinkers ( do not know if yours are red or not you did not say ) and swap the wires with the proper blinkers, if however the orange blinker lights that are staying on are your proper blinkers then you should have a permanent live wire going to them, you will have to remove this permanent live wire from them and if they do not have a live feed have an auto electrician fit some wires from the flasher unit to them and that should solve the problem hope you understand what i mean
Testimonial: "Yeah, my normal blinkers are the yellow/orange lights. They work fine, blink fine. Its just that when I turn my headlights on, they also turn on as solid running lights with the other red tail lights. And then will blink when you use the turn signal. Its the cops stopping me all the time thinking my emergency lights are on that is bothering me. (even though they are solid and not blinking like emergency lights do)"
ok great now i understand, so what you need to do it get the auto electrician to disconnect the wire that powers them when you turn your lights on there should be 2 live wires and an earth that needs to be kept connected if they do it correctly, they should test the wires once when the lights are off once when your lights are on,that way they can find wich wire they need to remove, also the live wire for your flashers should show an intermittent power ie, when your flashers are working without the lights on the power wire will lose power then have power then lose power etc etc, its quite simple really, i dare say a if you know someone with a test meter they could find which wire it is and just cut it and tape it. hope that helps
