I just put a set of tires on my car and took it to be aligned. The mechanic said he couldn't do it due to the lower ball joints and the inner tie rod bushings needing replaced. I replaced those and while there I noticed that the outer tie rod ends needed replacing too. So I also replaced those. Took it back and he said he still couldn't align it and that I may have a slightly bent tie rod or something wrong with the rack itself. Also claimed that the driver's side tire had play in it left and right, but not up and down. There is also a rattling sound coming from the front that I can't seem to pin point. I thought it was due to the bad tires I had on there prior, but it didn't go away after replacing them. Any ideas?
Check the steering hydraulics
Unfortunately it's impossible to set correct diagnose without visual control, as there are too many things may be broken. Don't play lottery, you should find a good mechanic
The sound could be your rack and pinion for the noise . as for the loose tire replace the bearing hubs if it has one . now there is a rule of thumb here okay. If your replace one bearing hub in the front replacecthe other as both parts are out of sinc and the new hub will cause the other side to develop problems . so do both sides . the rattle could also be the power steering pump getting readi to go bad so change it out .
Sounds like loose wheel bearings and front struts if it has them.

Go have the vehicle aligned, when you replace a tie rod, there is a chance that you may be off by a thread or two. Save your tires, go get an alignment.

dont forget the most common strut rod(radius rod) bushings(30 bucks) just did all on mine, front wheel bearings,lower control arm with ball joints(both) and inner tie rods.and really look at sub frame for stress cracks(recall prob)
