SOURCE: auto hubs stop working on 2001 f 250 4x4 works

The auto hubs are controlled by vacuum either from your engine if you have a gasser or by the vacuum pump located on the passenger side of your truck on fender inside engine compartment if you have a diesel. First item is a question. are you having any problems with your vents in your truck? If yes and you have a diesel. chances are your vacuum pump is not working. If you have a gasser you may have the same problem with vents not opening rightas well. You need to trace all your lines for a break in the line somewhere. They route on the right side of the engine down and accross the cross member. If your diesel pump is working and making vacuum then you need to check for routing breakage just like the gasser. The lines are small black lines that almost look like wires. There will be small connectors on them so you will be able to pull them apart and see that they are vacuum lines. They go all the way down and hook to your spindles so you can also back trace them to make sure you have the right lines. If you find no problems with the lines then you may have a problem inside the hub. Normally an o-ring leak but sometimes a failure of the hub. Please make sure to let everyone kow how i did for you. Gearbox slips over 100 kph

A/T or M/T?
if A/T slippage or FLARE (or false neutrals) will end the life of this tranny, it will burn up the clutch packs or bands.
never allow it to slip. or the damage gets worse fast.

What does it mean when my transmission is slipping in first gear and how do i fix it?

is it slipping in way that engine revs hard but car barely moves? if so take car for short drive get up to 30mph in 3rd gear on flat road and floor accelerator, if it slips now then there good chance clutch will need replaced soon, if only in first try pumping pedal firmly and frequently for a minute or so to see if the auto adjust ratchet will release some cable tension, if its an older car s reg for example some of these cars havew a manual adjustment normally at gearbox where cable fits the clutch release lever, normally its two 10mm nuts, one either side of clutch lever, for your problem i would release some tension, prob only 2-3 full turns of nut, this will allow clutch plate to correctly grip flywheel, be sure to road test once adjustment made to confirm simple and smooth selection of all other gears, also dont forget to wind other 10mm bolt up against the one you altered to prevent further unwanted adjustment to cable as over time engine vibrations could cause them to move if not locked off properly.

Toyota 1996 camry clutch slipping

You have an auto? Or the clutch is slipping in a manual?

If the first, the most likely cause is that your auto trans fluid is low. Check the level with the engine idling, and top it up via the dipstick tube if needed. If that was found to be OK then the trans has an internal problem and you will need to take it to an auto trans mechanic.

If a manual then the clutch is worn and must be replaced. Slippage is the classic sign of that. It cannot be fixed by external adjustments.

Having problems getting alternator/air conditioning belt, have undone adjustable locknuts and still not reaching. Using duralast part no. 430K6 from auto zone....it seems too short. What am I doing...

You loosened the adjusters but did you release the locking nuts before doing that? That adjuster will release some tension even if the locking bolt is not loosened and in order to collapse those enough for a new belt you have to release the locking nuts.

Honda ballade luxline auto 1996 does it have a clutch.while i am driving it is busy sliding when changing gears

It does not have a clutch in the true sense of the word, it has a torque converter which are two two dishes with vanes in them and the one drives the other by means of fluid. If the fluid in the torque converter and the transmission is low or the linkages or downshift cables are out of adjustment, you will have the symptoms of a "slipping clutch".

My gear selector is locked up. I can manually press a lever to unlock it and can then shift into gear. Once I get the gear selector unlocked, it works just fine.

Hi it sounds like the problem is with the clutch unless you vehicle is auto if its auto box then the chances are this needs replacing if you have manual gearbox then i would get the clutch replaced or looked at.
If the clutch is ok then it could be that the gear selector inside the gearbox is worn and needs replacing if this is the case then it would be cheaper to get a reconditioned gearbox as repairing it would cost about the same as a recon.
If you need further assistance then let me know ok

Clutch friction is middle ways instead of grabbing from floor.

should be auto adjusting, clutch is probably going out, you will notice it beginning to slip in high gear as it wears out more
