Cable broke how do I release the hood latch
With quite some (intentional) difficulty and a long screwdriver, you can access the latch mechanism from underneath and behind the front bumper. Underskirt covers and other stuff will have to be removed.

one way would be to take off the bumber and pry it open. these cars should have back up plans but they dont. lol once you get it open try going to a junk yard and taking one out of another car. if not then buy one and get it put in professionally because its very difficult to do.

This happened to my 2003 mitsubishi Galant... We wound up having to use some cable cutters and cut the cable, then pull the cable out through one of the grill slots, pull off the cover/sheath around the cable, and then we were able to pull the cable and release the latch. If it is already broken and you're going to have to replace it, then you're not hurting anything to cut the cable. Good luck to you.

You need a long hook or a screw driver and go in through the front grill and move the latch back.
