SOURCE: Sunroof problems and heater

first the easy problem is the blower. it has a faulty resistor. it works on 4 because 4 bypasses the resistor to give you full power.

the sunroof sounds like you've got a shorted wire somewhere. the open power wire has to be shorted to a 12v power sorce. there should be a sunroof fuse. check the owners manual for it's location. but if the wire is shorted it may open without it. you may have to remove the headliner to unplug the sunroof motor itself.

H Kim -

The "gearbox" is unfortunately under the headliner with no easy access. If you are also experiencing a clicking sound when the motor is activated, the regulator track had slipped position and will need to be reset.

I have been through this problem twice now. The first time the motor / gearbox came loose from it's mounts, began slipping (click, click, click), very nasty sound. I remounted the motor with threadlock on the screws, but alas.. two years later (mine's 2006) it slipped again.. I don't know why yet, I need to drop the headliner once more and have a look. If you would like a copy of your FSM, drop me a line.

Here's the RESET procedure from the FSM, absolutely gospel, no other way to fix it:
Sunroof Motor Assembly Note: Note • If the guide is removed, initial position setting of the sunroof motor will be required. After installing the sunroof unit, perform initial position setting using the following procedure. 1. Press the TILT UP switch to fully tilt up the glass panel.
2. When the glass panel reaches the fully tilt up position, temporarily release the TILT UP switch and press it again for approx. 13 s continuously. Continue pressing the switch until the glass panel automatically stops at the fully tilt up position after reaching the mechanical lock position.
3. When the glass panel stops at the fully tilt up position, temporarily release the TILT UP switch, then press it again within 5 s and hold.
Note • Press the TILT UP switch continuously until the glass panel opens to the fully open position, returns to the fully closed position and then stops. 4. Release the TILT UP switch when the glass panel stops at the fully closed position.

ALSO, Here's the clearance adjustment specs for having the glass panel in the correct resting position:

GLASS PANEL ADJUSTMENT
1. Fully close the glass panel.
2. Measure the gap and height difference between the glass panel and the body.
3. Loosen the glass panel installation screws and move the glass panel to adjust.

Standard clearance a: 0.2-2.2 mm {0.008-0.08 in} b: 0 mm {0 in} 4. Tighten the screws.
5. Insert any available thin plastic card between the weatherstrip and the body, and verify that they are sealed. (There is resistance when the plastic card is moved.)

• If they are not sealed, perform Steps 3-4 and adjust again.

My 2006 mazda sunroof is stuck open

Open up fusebox in the cabin . Remove the 15 amp fuse labelled "ROOM" ( near the bottom). Then check to make sure the relay/ motor wasnt getting any power by clicking all of the sunroof control buttons. Sit for a minute plug the fuse back in, and try the sunroof controls again. First time you click nothing might happen but hold down close and sure enough it should close then.

Where is the fuse for sunroof on 2004 mazda 6

https://www.google.com.au/search?q=2004+mazda+6+fuse+diagram

First result is probably what you're looking for:

Regardless, check each fuse - you can physically see damage in the fuses, so just go through them one at a time, replacing the undamaged ones. When you want to replace one, take it with you and get them to match it at the store.

Sunroof wont open on 540i 2002

Often can be the fuse. The sunroof on my '98 opened fine then 30 mins later would not close. Found a 30amp fuse burned out. A 2 minute fix. Fuse box is located in glove box. If you hear a click sound the instant you push the open button, then you might be a more serious issue. Beyond my knowledge

Hot do i close the sunroof of a Oldsmobile Aurora 2001. I pressed the 1-2-c after that it stucked. We tried pressing the open and close button and it's not working anymore. What is the problem?

Id start by just checking the fuse and relay for the sunroof to make sure they are good. Im not exacly sure, but I think the sunroof fuse and relay are in the fuse box located under your back seat. Your owners manual has a diagram of both the fuse boxes in that car (under the hood to). Id start here. If the fuses and relay is good, I would take it to a dealer, it may be the motor. If you can hear the motor whining but it is just not moving, something may be jammed in the track, Good luck

The windows and sun roof doesnt work i think i have a blown fuse

The fuse and relay box on the E30 and E36 models is located in the engine compartment. The E36 models also has relay boxes located under the left side of the dashboard.

Circuit Breakers
Resetting & Replacement

Circuit breakers are located inside the fuse panel. They are automatically reset when the problem corrects itself, is repaired, or the circuit cools down to allow operation again.

One of the less known about fuses that can cause all this to go out is the fuseable link. It is in a black plastic box near the battery. It is an appx 60A thin metal strip fuse. Check the website link to the right for more info.

Also, I suggest check your Fuse Diagram in the BMW 525i Owners Manual here.

Power Sunroof
Emergency Closure Operation

The sunroof is equipped with an emergency closure feature should the sunroof motor fail or the vehicle has lost electrical power. To close the sunroof under these conditions:
  1. Remove the front headliner trim panel.
  2. Using the 6mm hex key that is included with the tool kit, insert the key into the hex socket and turn the socket to close the sunroof.

  1. Open the sunroof lid 2-4 inches (5-10cm).
  2. Unclip the roof liner frame and push back into the opening.
  3. Close the sunroof lid and loosen the screws on each end of the gates.
  4. Pull in the retainers, remove the center screws and lift off the lid.
  5. Remove the cover over the motor and gearbox. Close the sunroof lid, if not already closed.
  6. Disconnect the wiring harness and remove the 3 mounting screws. Remove the motor and gearbox.
  7. Push the cables back evenly on both sides. Remove the rail covers and pull the cables out of the guides.
  8. Place the cable in the center position of the gate and press off.
To install:
  1. Install the cables to the gate. The cable are marked with the proper side of installation. Do not lubricate fabric covered cables.
  2. Pull the cables through guides and align the cables. Insert a hex key through the gate and cable at the 0 position.
  3. Install the motor and gearbox. The motor and gearbox must be synchronized with the hole in the drivegear aligned between the centers of the 2 gears. Torque the bolts to 2.0 ft. lbs. (2.8 Nm).
  4. Install the sunroof lid. Use new screws and torque to 2.5 ft. lbs. (3.5 Nm).
  5. Adjust the sunroof lid. Pull the roof liner frame into position and clip into place.

E36 Models
  1. Close the sunroof fully. With a quick actuation of the sunroof opening button, open the sunroof so the back edge of the lid depresses 0.08-0.12 inches (2-3mm).
  2. Slowly push the roof liner panel back into the roof. Do not force or use a quick motion or damage could occur.
  3. Remove the mounting screws and pull the lid off at the rear side. Do not operate the sunroof with the panel removed.
To install:
  1. Install the lid and check that the hooks and levers align. Install the screws with threadlocker or use new micro-encapsulated screws. Torque to 2.5 ft. lbs. (3.5 Nm).
  2. Adjust the sunroof lid. Lower the rear of the lid by operating the motor. Pull the liner forward and clip into place.

Good luck.

An help closing the sunroof on a 93 Mazda MX-3? It opens but it doesn;t close. Fuse is OK. I can hear the motor when you press open but nothing when you press close.

Sounds like a faulty switch. If you pop it out and test it with a test light, You should see the power switching from one terminal to another.

Sunroof will not close

If you hear motor hum than it's probably a bad rail part. I have the same plastic rail part and both sides broke. Can't find a replacement anywhere.
