If you have the second ignition key's with you try it.  If not try this, it takes about 30 min to do. 30-Minute Learn Procedure 1. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF. 2. Attempt to start the engine, then release the key to ON; the vehicle will not start. 3. Observe the SECURITY tell tale light. After approximately 10 minutes, the light will turn OFF. 4. Turn OFF the ignition switch, and wait 5 seconds. 5. Repeat steps 1 through 4 - two more times - for a total of 3 cycles of 10 minutes. 3x10 = 30 minutes. The vehicle is now ready to relearn the Passlock Sensor Data Code and/or passwords on the next ignition switch turn from OFF to CRANK Important: Turn the Ignition Switch OFF. The vehicle learns the Passlock Sensor Data Code and/or password on the next ignition switch transition from OFF to CRANK. You must turn the ignition OFF before attempting to start the vehicle. 6. Start the engine. The vehicle has now learned the Passlock Sensor Data Code and/or password. 7. With a scan tool, clear any DTCs if needed. History DTCs will self clear after 100 ignition cycles. Without a scan tool you may have momentary starter interruptions while history clears itself. Good luck and hope this helps, keep me posted, be glad to help

Your key has a computer chip in it that tells the computer that the person who owns the car is trying to start it. Sometimes the key will lose its memory and the car computer thinks your a thief with the wrong key. You may have to have a new key made from a code the dealer can aquire from the VIN number I believe.

The security light has come on when starting the car,,,,now today the car wont start eventhough I seem to have all the dashboard lights working and the dome light works too. the battery symbol is lit as...

I have this same problem. Evidently there is some sort of malfunction in the security system. You have to put your key in the ignition and turn it on "on" for approximately 10 minutes. The security light will stop blinking, then go off. Turn the igition back to off. Now you should be able to crank the car. I have contacted alot of people about this and the only answer I get is they will not do a recall because it is not a life threatening situation.

Engine wont turnover until after second or third try

Could be a bad connection at the positive or negative terminals of the battery. I had this problem on my 1997 Cadillac Deville where it would click, or do nothing, and if I toggled the starter through the ignition switch, then it would start on the third or fourth or fifth try.

I thought it was the security system, but it turned out that wire brushing the connectors at the battery (after they were removed) solved the problem beautifully.

2002 Chrysler Sebring Convert wont turnover

If you're not hearing a click from the starter check for a starter relay. May be burned out! DO you hear the fuel pump kick in when you turn the key on? If not something might have triggered your security system and locked you out!

2000 Alero Security light flashing and wont start

With the new lock cylinder in it, turn the key on. The security light should blink. Leave the key on for 10 minutes, the security light will quit blinking and go out after 10 min. This will reprogram your security system and the car should start. Also leave a battery charger on it while the key is on, If the battery goes dead during the 10 minute reprogram sequence, you will have to start over again.
