This can be caused by many things.
A worn or slipping belt.
Low fluid in the power steering pump reservoir.
A bad rack and pinion.
Bad power steering pump.
Tire pressure low.
I did have a power steering pump go bad and cause this problem.
I was told that, no way a power steering pump could cause this, and after I had the rack replaced guess what, it was the power steering pump after all.

At idle Engine accelerates when moving the steering wheel

That could be a tough one to diagnose ! I would start by pulling the steering wheel off an check wiring inside , see if lose connection or wire chaffed an touching metal ! Does it have buttons on the steering wheel , cruise control ? or on the stalk on the side of the column ? Is air bag light lit on the dash ? Short in the clock spring , Do you know what a clock spring is ? Ford Windstar Steering Wheel Clock Spring Replacement B1932

My ignition switch is locked up on my 2000 malibu and will not turn a bit, How do I get it to turn over to the run position? Needing to change it out with a new one.

Best you can do is... try another matching key or jiggle the key until it turns. Be sure that the steering wheel isn't jammed against the steering wheel lock - if it is, it'll make the key hard to turn & it'll be tough to tell that it CAN be turned. If necessary, jack up the front of the car for a moment, just to release side stress on the tires.

Knocking noise

Wow this one's tough without being there...it could be either one that you mentioned, does it make the sound when driving or setting still. If it sounds like it's up high like in the dash, maybe a bearing that supports the steering column. Best thing would be to get it up on a lift and turn the steering wheel and look for the sound under the car to see where it's coming from..could be the rack teeth but most likely a bearing...good luck hunting

The steering wheel is very difficult to turn and it has power steering

It may be an electrical problem. Steering assist can incorporate a solenoid, and even a controlling module in some cases, to regulate the pressure flow of the power steering fluid, thus increasing or decreasing the effect of the power steering. At slow speeds or stopped, it should be allowing full power steering assist. So a light is on? It has probably communicated to the pcm to set a trouble code. Have a shop check it out.

Steering wheel and ignition key are locked

Hello
If the steering wheel was turn a little bit when the ignition was turn off it will be tough to unlock the ignition, try turning the steering wheel to the right or left pretty hard and hold it while you try to turn the ignition key on that should loosen the lock up a little
Good luck

I have a 2005 malibu ls and when i turn the wheels left or right i hear a popin noise and feel a movement in steering wheel besides this it rides perfect

you need to have the cv joints replaced, unless your a pretty good mechanic you should have this done at a shop, they can be pretty tough to get out and back in, should run about 130$ per side

What can cause my power steering to leak

The pump itself most likely is the leaking problem. Also follow the lines from end to end to see any leaks, mainly at the connectors. Fill the power reservoir and turn the steering far to the right and look to see if you can see any leaks, do the same by turning it to the left. The car must be running.

In 99 tahoe what causes the steering to 'give up" at the 2 o'clock position in a right turn only but just for a split second is it the gear box

make sure there is no air in the Power steering system. Try Bleeding it this is going to be tough without a lift. with the car off turn the wheel lock to lock 10 time and recheck.

I have a loud humming noise when I turn the steering wheel

Could be one of three things: Low on power steering fluid loose belt do to a weak belt tensioner or the power steering pump itself.

Steering is stiff

the problem could be contamination in ps fluid.i would flush the system and replace fluid first .if that does not solve the pronlem you most likely need power steering pump. the steerjng box is very unlikely.
