The firing order is
Rotation: Counter-clockwise
Firing Order: 1-3-7-2-6-5-4-8

You can check for power at the starter solenoid mounted on the fender, it has power from battery pos. terminal and it will have a wire from the ignition switch the goes to 12volts when in the crank posistion, you can check with a test light and have some one turn key, if you have power to both as discribed than it is most likely the solenoid, if the solenoid clicks when you test it you will need to check for power at the other large wire from the solenoid while the key is in crank position, if power there you will need to check for power at the starter(large wire) while in the crank position, if power there then you will need a starter or you have a bad ground.

Diesel engines do not have a firing order. They run off of compression and not spark.
