Cynthia, unfortunately the engine in your Sebring is what is called an "interference engine". When the timing belt breaks on an interference engine, the valves stop moving and the still moving pistons hit the valves that are open and bend them. This requires the removal of the cylinder head(s) to repair the damage. A fairly expensive proposition, I'm afraid.

My timing chain has snapped

I assume it's your timing belt, not a chain, which rarely, if ever snap. Depending on the make of the car and the engine you may, or may not, have serious engine damage.. DO NOT ATTEMPT to start the car, have it towed to your shop of choice. If there is no engine damage a timing belt replacement generally will run you 2 or 3 hundred bucks...if you did serious engine damage you may have to decide if the car if worth the money to have it repaired. What you need to know is whether your car has an "interference" or "non-interference" type engine.. In an interference type engine if the timing belt breaks the valves will "interfere" with the pistons as they travel up if the timing belt breaks, which results in generally catastrophic engine failure.. non-interference engines generally suffer little or no engine damage with a broken timing belt.. I broke a timing belt on my 1990 Toyota Supra going 70mph, but it was a non-interference engine and after having the belt replaced it was fine.. here is a good list someone put together on what type of engine is in your car.. you should find the engine type either marked on the engine or on a label under the hood, or the owners manual.. good luck. http://yourcarangel.com/2014/07/interference-engines-complete-list/

95 chrysler sebring timing

You could have the car towed to another shop for a second opinion.
A mechanic would check for compression and visually look at the belt to confirm. If the timing belt is broken, you may have damaged the valves too.

When should the timing belt be changed on the 2.5L engine in my 1998 Chrsyler Sebring JXI Convertible? An independent service garage recommends replacing it at 100,000 miles; owner's manual doesn't list...

personnally i recommend a belt change at 60,000,the reason is,i have, like many others, have had a belt snap, and the makers do not pay the bill.maybe to some as excesive, but have you seen the bill for a new head etc....?

I have a 2005 Explorer XLT with 66,000 miles. Is it advisable to change the timing belt at this time . The car is running great.

Does your motor have a timing belt or chain? If it is a belt and it was mostly highway running you should be able to get quite a few mor miles out of it. As a rule of thumb, city driving, jackrabbit starts, lots of cold weather driving(bellow -20f) and towing belt should be changed at around 80,000 miles. If is light duty driving 100,000 miles. If it is a chain you might never need to change it.

The exterior siding on my 1999 Chrysler Sebring came off. Where do I get the snaps to put it back on? It was on the lower passenger door. It is coming off on the driver door also. Where do I get the snaps...

You should be able to get what you need at any auto parts store, body shop. If you have one of the old clips (snaps) take is along, if not take the trim piece.

At what mileage should the timing belt be replaced on a 2005 Chrysler Sebring 4 cyl? Does the tensioner need to be replaced as well?

Depending on how the car is driven (outside temp, towing, stop and go, dusty, etc...) the maintenance schedule states either 90.000 miles or 120,000 miles. If any one harsh driving condition applies, chrysler recommends 90,000 miles. The only mention of the tensioner needing replaced is if the belt was damaged due to misalignment.
Hope this helps.

My serptine belt has come off the pullies.

If the belt is not tight do not drive it.The belt turns the water pump and it will over heat the car. Also it runs the alternator. If your battery is a few years old the car will die half way there. So I would n't advise it.Just have it towed...
