Belt pulley and belt tensioner. Belt pulley is fxhed and tensioner is movable. You need to have belt tensioner relased of the pressure using belt tool (long handle and 15'' wrench) .. Then you can folow belt routing diagram located on fan shroud or underneath front hood!

The belt in my car is not moving. The pulley attached to the altenator is not moving

...is the engine running?
If the belt is moving but the alternator pulley isn't, it's seized and the alternator needs to be replaced.
If the belt isn't moving at all, it probably slipped off the crank pulley.

Replace serpantine belt 2004 malibu

Get a 1/2" breaker bar and remove tension on belt by rotating the tensioner until belt is loose.

Remove belt noting the under over method.

Install new belt. The smooth pulleys have the back of the serpentine belt, and the grooved pulleys have the inside front of the serpentine belt up against it.

In this way you can reroute any serpentine belt on the market.

Good luck.

Im trying to replace the serpantine belt. where is the belt torsioner

If you have the V6 engine then the tensioner is located towards the bottom rear of where the belt runs. Often it's easiest to remove the passenger side wheel and plastic splash shield to gain enough room to get a wrench on the tensioner so you can pull it back and remove & replace the belt. Make a note of how the old belt runs around all the pulleys to make it easier to install the new belt.

Replacing pulley for serpantine belt but must be missing something to loosen tension to replace belt. Can you help me?

IF YOU HAVE A 4,0 ENGINE THE PULLEY UNDER THE STEERING PUMP NEEDS TO BE LOOSENED. ADJUSTMENT IS MADE BY TURNING THE LONG "JACK BOLT" THAT ATTACHES TO IT.8CYL HAS A TENSIONER PULLEY ON THE PASSENGER SIDE THAT IS MOUNTED ON AN ECCENTRIC. TURNING THE CENTER BOLT WILL MOVE THE PULLEY ITSELF.

Serpantin belt replacement? I need a manual!!!

You need a 14mm socket on a extended breaker bar,
place on automatic tensioner center pulley bolt which is the dumpy pulley located above the alternator.
Move the nut to tighten which will move spring loaded tensioner to low side which will allow you to slip belt off.....installlation is the reverse

Serpantine belt broke

there is usally a diagram on either the hood or the radiator core support. now to loosen something there is a idler pulley with a 3/8" drive end in the center of it that will allow you to move the pulley against the tensioner to put the belt on

How to install serpantine belt tensioner on 2000 pontiac grand am

Hello,
Basically, Remove the belt. Then remove the bolt that the tensioner pivots on and remove it. It's fairly easy. You may need to remove the belt pulley to make it easier.
The problem comes as your trying to get to it. If you can't see it well or something is in the way. Like the plastic overflow tank or something like that. Then you will need to remove what is keeping you from getting to the tensioner. I did one on a four cylinder last week. The belt pulley on that one had a left hand thread. The tensioner itself should be right hand thread.
Good luck.
