Engine-no go this car had been running fine then went to store 3/4 mi away, shut it off then when leaving car ran fine until I shifted to 2nd gear and then it died. Could not start it again, had wife tow me home. Changed plugs (old plugs were SHOT), plug wires, dist cap and rotor and it started and idled fine but when accel pedal depressed the motor would bog down bad and die. Engine will start and idle fine but when accelerating the engine, it WILL NOT rev up, unless the pedal is feathered quickly then it revs up good (so the dist shouldn't be bad, right?), but to stomp on the gas it just dies. Ran OBD on it, thru codes for TPS, replaced it twice with new ones, still no rev up from idle. Checked for vacuum leaks, cleaned MAF sensor, throttle body is clean. What else is there to look for?? Possible elec module failure??

here I thought this was electronic dist and the dist couldn't be adjusted/moved!!

I should have known better, now to charge battery enough to see if that is the problem.

    thanks for pointing that out

got it to the best I could but when accelerating rpms, sounds to be knocking or dieseling just as it revs up.

Guess it is time to dig into the timing belt, that kind of explains why it just QUIT on me before.

    Correct assumption, yes?

Runs great until shifting from 1rst to 2nd gear (auto-trans)suddenly bogs down like it went into neutral, what could this be

run the fault codes and check for TCM problem. If it shifts into neutral like you describe then the engine would increase in rpms as the load came off. More than likely shifting into a too high gear which indicates a selector program problem.

My 88 camaro wont shift past 2nd gear

Will the engine rev up in park ?
I would assume the fuel pressure is low because of the lines being connected wrong, but that would not be easy to do.
The pressure line should be bigger than the return line.

I got a 1992 Pontiac Bonneville drove it to store ran fine come home shut it off and now it wont kick in gear can you tell me what might be the problem

it ran fine? the transmission or the shifting worked fine? the engine or the transmission ran fine? - both? which it is?
Sounds like the problem may be the linkage to the transmission -- IF that is, the real problem is that you cannot shift the transmission?

My automatic focus sometimes will not go into gear properly

This may be caused by fluid starvation from a plugged trans filter, also a shift solenoid inside the trans may be sticking, I would recommend u change the trans fluid and filter (required at 60,000 miles), also go to a Kragen auto or any chain parts store like it and ask to have a code test run on the powertrain control module , it is free.

ENGINE LACKS POWER (4AGE) 1600 CC, 4 CYL, TWIN CAM

I had the fuel pump recently replaced i just assumed the fuel filter was replaced also cause my fuel pump is in the gas tank. My air filter is clean and I have 4 fuel injectors, no carburetor. A friend of mine who has looked at my car for me says it sounds like there is some kind of air leak but can't figure out where it is coming from?
