SOURCE: Can you tell me what p0463 code means on my 2005 Liberty

p0463 is a self diagnostic code that is for the fuel gage sending unit located inside the fuel tank if your fuel gage is reading empty just after you filled it then that verify's the code is correct you have a bad sending unit

SOURCE: 1995 Mitsubishi mirage. no gas to fuel injector

i would replace the fuel pump. and the reason your gas gage is not reading what it is supposed to be is because the sending unit is prob bad. both of which are in the gas tank. im not sure on that year but i think you can remove the back seat or a piece of the trunk to get to both of them. if not the gas tank will need to be dropped to get them out

SOURCE: 03 jeep liberty gas gauge

This is a common problem with all cars, If you do a search on sulfur and fuel gauge problems you would find more info than I can tell you.

But basically you will need to replace the fuel sender in the tank to fix this problem.

The sender uses silver contacts and the sulfur is corrosive to it.

The sulfer in fuel changes thru the year and sometimes its extreme.

2003 HUMMER H2 FUEL GAGE READS EMPTY ONLY

You replaced the fuel gauge stepper motor two times ? Did you do it correctly ?

Fuel Gage
The IPC displays the fuel level as determined by the PCM. The IPC receives a class 2 message from the PCM indicating the fuel level percent. The fuel gage defaults to empty if:
• The PCM detects a malfunction in the fuel level sensor circuit.
• The IPC detects a loss of class 2 communications with the PCM.
When the fuel level is less than a pre-determined value, the low fuel indicator illuminates.
Reviewing the fuel system description will further explain how the system functions. Refer to Fuel System Description .

Did you try replacing the fuel level sensor ? Check for DTC'S diagnostic trouble codes ?

2004 trailblazer...fuel guage tags full when empty....rears Reads empty when full...changed fuel sending unit...no fix....replaced instrument cluster....no fix. Help

Have the vehicle check for DTC'S - diagnostic trouble codes ! The sending unit is an input to the PCM - engine computer . The PCM sends this info to the instrument cluster over class 2 serial data network . Do you know anything about class 2 communication's network . The ideal way to diagnose a problem like this , check for codes , view data on scan tool . Buick Class 2 Operation Diagnosis 1998

Fuel Gage
The instrument panel cluster (IPC) displays the fuel level as determined by the engine control module (ECM). The IPC receives a serial data message from the ECM indicating the fuel level percent. The fuel gage defaults to empty if:
• The ECM detects a malfunction in the fuel level sensor circuit.
• The IPC detects a loss of serial data communications with the ECM.
When the fuel level is less than a pre-determined value, the IPC illuminates the low fuel indicator.

DTC P0463

Install a scan tool.
Turn the ignition ON, with engine OFF.
With the scan tool, observe one of the following fuel level parameters:
• Fuel Level Sensor parameter in the PCM Enhanced EVAP data list.
• Fuel Level Sensor parameter in the PCM EVAP data list - 4.2L only.
Does the scan tool indicate that the Fuel Level Sensor parameter is less than the specified value?

Mi jeep liberty 2002 fan doesn't turn on although i disconnect the temperature sensor, i have understood that if i disconnect it, the fan should turn on all time but it doesnt, i dont know what happens...

Having similar problem with an 03 Liberty. Replaced Radiator Cooling Fan Relay $82 and drill new mounting hole. Fan will not run after shutting off engine, so I'm thinking I have a bad thermostat or a bad cooling temperature sensor. Heading to the parts store now.

Gas guage shows over full all the time

You have lost the ground input to the gas gage. Its the black wire coming from the fuel pump connector at the fuel pump. Either the wire is broken or the input to the body control computer is broken, thus creating high Resistance on the input wire. The computer will think the tank is full, a shorted wire would indicate lo Resistance and read empty. Locate the fuel pump connector and jumper the black wire directly to the body (ground) and turn the key to run, check gage. If reads normal the wire is broken betwwen fuel tank and its ground location.

Concern about the computer system, little things like the date when set on the system won't hold or when turned off date will change.Alsofuel tank gage after filled will show empty and the gage will bounce...

Hi- The computer 'system' is actually 4 or 5 modules, or controllers tucked into the dash, under the backseat, and in the engine compartment. First, the clock is easily affected by momentary drops in voltage or loose connection at battery. The monster battery installed in the Aurora is expected to run a small city, but have it tested to eliminate it anyway. As far as the fuel guage goes.... notorious for dropping like a rock below 1/2 tank. Guage is not controlled by computer but sends low fuel signal when float bottoms out. I have owned a 95 'Ourora for 8yrs... Please acknowledge this post if helpful. Have more info if needed- Thanks--Ed
