I have a 2009 Pontiac G5....the crusie control that it has on the steering wheel is broken. I have the part, but it seems that you need to get behind the steering wheel to mount the new one. Does the face of the steering wheel come off or how do I go about replacing the piece? Any suggestions, thoughts or ideas?

the face of the steering wheel does come off. In the back of the steering wheel there should be two holes if you feel around for them. In those holes are screws that hold the face on, just undo those screws and the face should come off. After that DO MAKE SURE YOU UNPLUG THE AIRBAG. You don't want the going off in your face.

Pontiac g5 2007 steering wheel doesn't return when turning

This car has electric steering, you must have the system checked by the dealer.

Once I put the key in to start the car the key wont turn.

You may have to releave the tension on the steering wheel. Some times when we stop our car, we do so with the steering wheel turn, as result, the ignition key will not turn. To solve this probem, turn the steering wheel in the direction of the pressure on the wheel, while at the same time you turn the key.

Key won't turn in my pontiac g5. I have 2 keys, both fail to turn. battery seems fine , all lights work can use remote start, but still can not turn key

Hello: You might try tapping on the lock cylinder while turning and jiggling the key, if that don't work you will have to replace the lock cylinder.

2009 Pontiac G5 won't shut off. Key will not turn.

The pontiac G5 has a defect on some of them that need a new ignition switch. I just had to get mine replaced because mine did the exact same thing. If you remove the fuse it will not fix the problem!

Have a 2007 Pontiac G5 and need to add power steering fluid.

its tricky. its behind the engine. If you pop the hood and you go to the left side, look behind the block and it chould be about half way down or so. You should see the cap for it. I think that was a horrible idea on pontiacs part. Happy motoring!

I want to add cruise control to a 2009 Pontiac G5 with the manual transmission. My dealer wants to add an aftermarket unit that fastens to the side of steering wheel. Do I have to settle for this or can...

you will require a new steering wheel.
and it is almost $500 from the dealer.
It will look like this...

The aftermarket one does not stick off the handgrips of the steering wheel - it is on the bottom Hub area.

The aftermarket uses a wireless transponder and the brain is hard-wired into the ECU (computer)

Im not sure that your vehicle has the existing wires in the harness to facilitate adding a cruise in the steering wheel without replacing the entire steering column... or wiring harness.

Im sure with the right amount of $$ it can be done - but the aftermarket one is the least invasive and cheapest route for you.

All the cars... cobalt, g5, g6, g7 etc... have the cruise control built in the ECU, and it simply needs to be turned on using the GM Tech Tool Candi II. Its the part about switching it on and off that the costs are involved.

Go with the aftermarket - its really not that bad!
