You need a new alternator , Check your amps coming out of the back of your altenator you will find it is not sending 14 volts when its running. The reason it starts and runs for a bit after it sits or charges is that the car is running on the battery if you keep this up you will not only need a new altenator but a new battery
You can't , the computers won't let you . The ignition switch is a low voltage input to the BCM - body control module . What's the problem ? lost keys or anti-theft system won't let the vehicle start an run . The BCM & PCM - engine computer are hooked together on the GMLAN serial data network . if the BCM doesn't the correct response from the transponder in the ignition key it will not send start request to the PCM/ECM . You have no clue as to what your dealing with. Do yourself a favor an take it to a qualified repair shop .
the problem is not the bulb, cause it does go on, so your problem is caused by any of the other components involved, get a wiring diagram and work with that to fix the problem. hope this helps
Hooking up a factory tech 2 scan tool an checking BCM -body control module DTC'S - diagnostic trouble code's ,an input data for the remote start system . Would be the first step in the diagnostic procedure .
Circuit/System Description
Remote vehicle start (RVS) begins as an RF message received by the remote control door lock receiver (RCDLR) from a keyless entry transmitter. The RVS request is sent by the RCDLR to the body control module (BCM) via serial data. The BCM monitors system conditions such as content theft deterrent (CTD), hood ajar status, and body DTCs to determine if an RVS event will occur. If conditions are determined to be acceptable, the RVS message is sent to the engine control module (ECM). The ECM monitors system conditions such as engine control parameters and vehicle theft deterrent (VTD) to determine if engine starting will be allowed. If conditions are acceptable, the ECM will initiate engine starting. During the engine run time in a RVS attempt, before the operator enters the vehicle, the ECM may discontinue engine operation if system conditions require it or a message is received from the BCM requesting the engine be turned OFF.
The gear shift indicator is just a peace of plastic it could be broken or just come lose. I think that car has gear shift on the floor. Normally are screws on the side of the plastic cover on each side. Just remove the screws and lift the cover and you should be able to see if the pointer broken or just needs adjusting. You should not have to try on it. just remember that it is just plastic. good luck Jerry
Older cars had vacuum lines running to the trans modulator and if the modulator diaphram ruptured, trans fluid could be sucked into the engine and burned. Is there anything like this on your trans?
Where did you put the fluid in? A narrow tube, didn't it have a dipstick within the tube? Most cars have the dipstick on the end of a RED colored handle for transmission fluid. My work truck does NOT have a dipstick and can only take to service department should there be a Trouble light on the dash. Electronically monitored on it! May need to take to a repair shop before you do any Real Damage.
You'll need to take the inside door panel off , a couple of screws down in the bottom handle cup, or handle pull .Look for other screws at the bottom of the panel . may or may not have any there. There is a screw hidden in the inside of the open lever .Take a little screw driver an open the plastic tab and you will find a screw . Take a good look around the edge of the door for any other screws , if you don't see any others then you can pry , pull or get a panel tool. You what something that is not going to scratch the paint. There are push pins holding it now. I'd suggest you look at this video and some other videos on you tube. To see if you think your up to it . How To Install Replace Door Lock Actuator 2005 10 Pontiac G6 To used this just to show you how door panel comes off . No need to look any further after door panel is off. I couldn't find a video for cable replacement. That is the easy part .getting the door panel off for the first time mite seam intimidating .
The solenoids should be on top of the engine bolted to the valve cover on the passenger side. Unplug and ohm check them. If they are not the same replace the one that is on the intake side of the engine. I’m happy to assist further over the phone at https://www.6ya.com/expert/jeremy_d728a59f986299fa
Rug over the plastic cover on top of the engine if there is one. On the passenger side of the valve cover look for two solenoids that bolt op to the valve cover. Unplug both. Use an ohm meter to measure the resistance of each of the solenoids. If the one on the front is different than the one on the back replace it. The front one is the intake cam solenoid the one on the back is the exhaust cam solenoid. I don't remember the spec for a good one but I believe it is around 13 ohms.
