Which engine?

  1. Drain the radiator

  1. Loosen the water pump pulley bolts.
  2. Remove the serpentine belt.


  1. Remove the water pump pulley bolts and pulley.
  2. Remove the water pump bolts, pump and gasket.
  3. Clean the water pump mating surfaces.
Installation Procedure
  1. Install the water pump gasket and pump.

  1. Install the water pump bolts. Tighten the water pump bolts to 89 inch lbs.

  • Install the water pump pulley and bolt until snug.
  • Install the serpentine belt.
  • Tighten the water pump pulley bolts. Tighten the water pump pulley bolts to 18 ft. lbs.
  • Fill the cooling system and purge of air.
  • Inspect for leaks.

      Thanks for the advice...actually, my brother-in-law, who is a mechanic, checked out the problem ("spewing all over coolant") & found that the coolant reservoir has no leaks & that the water pump is functioning perfectly...we have never even seen a drop of coolant or water inside the hood compartment area or on the garage floor & haven't had to put a single drop in the reservoir since being informed of the problem 2 weeks ago...
