My 2000 Dakota, 4.7 l, tends to idle too low. Now it is really having trouble maintaining rpms and the temperature guage is like a yo-yo, going to buried in the red to normal in seconds. I have multiple trouble codes--p1294, p0117, p0107, po112, p1296, p0122. It will freak out for a minute or so, then drive fairly normally but unable to hold an idle or holding just below 500 rpm. Any ideas?

SOURCE: 2001 Dodge Dakota 3.9L oil pressure

The pickup tube is a bad design in these engines, I have fixed several with the same problem, you can weld on a GM screen move it 1/4 of a inch away from the pan or add 1 inch to the bottom of the pan, (use a high volume pump) the problem is the screen is too close and too small and will pick up any sludge off the bottom. also it's great to make a access plate on the bottom of the pan using a Volkswagen Bug oil cover plate, it can be removed with bolts after a oil drain to clean the screen without the hassle of removing the whole oil pan by lifting the engine on these trucks. Good Luck

SOURCE: 1999 Dodge Stratus---PO112 trouble code

Intake Air Temperature Sensor Circuit Low Input

Possible Causes:
Sensor signal shorted to chassis ground
Sensor signal shorted to sensor ground circuit
Sensor has an internal failure (it is shorted)
PCM has failed

Your vehicle’s computer system has self-testing capability. When the computer senses that there is a problem with one of the components or sensors it stores the correspondent trouble code(s) in its memory and lights up the "Check Engine" or "Service Engine Soon" light to tell you that there is a problem and you need to diagnosed and repaired it. There are test that need to be performed the find out the cause, if you do not have a good understanding of electricity take it to a professional. The light will stay on until the problem is solved. This can cause problems with other sensor if not corrected.

SOURCE: will not idle must stay on gas

Not sure what engine but a common cause of stalling is the IAC motor (idle air control motor). I'd grab a spray can of " throttle body cleaner", and pull IAC motor off, clean the pintle (pointed part) well & spray the port it came out of real good to & re-install & try it. If it helps for a while & starts doing it again later, replace the IAC motor.

SOURCE: 95 dodge dakota having hard time shifting.

Try a tranny service change a place that changes the filter the pan gasket and fluid not some of these quick places that just drain a couple quarts out of the tranny lines and thats it that wont help but a complete tranny service should help.

What should the oil pressure be on the cars guage

around 10-15 psi at idle and around 40-50 psi at 2000 rpms viscosity of the oil in use and the oil temperature will have a variance on the pressures so if it is too low , the first thing to do is to up the viscosity of the oil in use
upper pressure is governed by the pressure relief valve in the pump or oil galley
check with a mechanical gauge it the gauge has an electronic sender as the sender may be reading low on the pressure gauge

I set my trucks RPM on a low setting, from inside, no engine tampering. Now it is warmer. My truck is still running at a low RPM, seems too low for current temperature. How can I adjust my RPM?

how did you adjust a pre-programmed ECU idle settings ??? please be more specific

the vehicle's ECU is pre-programmed to run higher than 1000 rpms while in "open loop mode" then idle back down to ~750 rpms once the engine reaches operating temperature "closed loop mode"

did you tap into the OBD 2 port and used a laptop to change the settings?

1994 SL1 Code 14 hard cold starts, and revs to about 2500 Rpms onstart then dies.

They make a connector for the sender unit and they have to usually be replaced. Watch which way it goes on since they are a little cumbersome plugging back on...I prefer soldering the new connectors on too.

Low idle in 1998 saturn sc1

I had this problem. Its a sensor. Unfortunately I don't remember the name of the sensor. When it gets a tiny litle crack in it, this is what happens. If you take it in to autozone, they will do a free sensor scan for you. You can replace it yourself. Its really no big deal. If you get the scan done you can contact me and I will give you further info.
