SOURCE: need to replace a serpentine belt on a 2000
Uhmmmm. suggestions for what??? usually there is a diagram on the hood or the vehicle that shows where the belt has to go. you follow that picture. as for removing/installing the new belt, you will have to use a breaker bar or long handled wratched to slack off the tensioner. the 3/8" wratchet head will fit into a slot on the tensioner bracket (usually) and you just GENTLY pull on it to release the tension to get the belt on. hope this helps, good luck
SOURCE: My mechanic says I need to replace the alternator/
Should be the same belt ... that is the general philosophy behind using this new kind of belt. They don't last forever ... If the mechanic is telling you to replace it ... you should replace it. If he is wrong ... it cost you a couple bucks ... if he is right and you don't replace it, it could mean a break down. What will that cost you?
