94 Suburban headlight and turn signal problems

A few weeks ago my headlights cut off suddenly while we were driving. They came back on a few seconds later then turned off again.

I have also noticed that all my turn signals have not been working lately.

People say its the multi function switch but it appears that the 1994 modles din't have one.

I smelt hot wiring when the headlights were on. When I hit the dimmer switch the headlights went off and did not come back on. The dimmer switch does not snap anymore like it used to when going from lo to hi beam.

Sure they did your multifunction switch is the wipers and turn signal and hi low beam switch your headlights have to run through that switch also so you can dim or brighten them

SOURCE: Turn signals sometimes don't work

Change the flasher to an electronic unit. They are far less likely to give you trouble.

1st, it is not normal on this car for the lights or your cluster lights to be on during the day. It has no sensor for day/night and was not an option on these cars.

Sounds like someone has rewired your lights somewhere to run when the ignition is on. If you are lucky, you 'll be able to recognize a difference in a stock wire harness and an altered one. If it was done, more correctly, it will be much harder to find. It may also be under the driver side dash at the console.

It will be from the multi-position lightswitch to an ignition wire. A wiring diagram would help. Be cautious though. This may have been done to bypass a non-working switch like the connections you found.

SOURCE: chevy S/10 headlights

headlights are on a circuit breaker--not a fuse. so if you have a high amp draw situation--the breaker will get hot and turn the lights out then cool off and reconnect(a safety feature so you may have headlights a least part of the time). You need to look for reasons for a high draw. bad headlights themselves are the most popular cause as well as corroded connecters. Hope I helped

SOURCE: headlights will not turn on 94 bravada

Check the Fuse and if that is good, there is a good chance that it's going to be the head light switch it self.
Auto Zone or Parts Source should have that part for let then the dealer. If your not sure how to change it your self, they both have the how do it your self instructions to change it.
Good luck.

SOURCE: headlights will not turn on, cant find fuses, everything else works

These fuses are located under the hood in a fuse/relay box. You may have a problem with the daytime running light module also. If the fuses aren't blown have this madule check.

test the ignition switch or look for a burnt connector to the switch, if the connector is burnt/melted replace the connector and the switch.
