How to remove a lock cylinder from a 1999 Dodge Grand Caravan?.

I removed the plastic wheel cover and the light ring but I can't remove the pin to pull the cylinder out. I tried pulling up on the pin while the key was in the ignition in the on position but wouldn't come out, plus the car started while doing this. So I tried while the battery was disconnected, didn't work. PLEASE HELP, PIN STUCK IN THE OFF POSITION CAN'T GET THE CYLINDER OUT.

Procedure says to turn on and press retaining tabs.

Spake pluge could have gone bad, or the Spark Plug wire. Try changing all your plugs and wire and inspect the old one's. The wire could be bad do to time or may have been against the exhaust manifold and brunt. Good luck

REMOVAL:

NOTE: The Supplemental Inflatable Restraint (SIR) system must be disarmed before removing any components in the area of the air bag system. Failure to do so may cause accidental deployment of the air bag, resulting in unnecessary SIR system repairs and/or personal injury.

Disconnect and isolate the negative battery cable from the battery.
Allow the SIR system capacitor to discharge for at least 2 minutes, before performing any removal procedures. The air bag system is now disabled.

Remove the key cylinder (ignition lock).
Using a No. 10 Torx® tamper proof bit, remove the ignition switch mounting screw. Depress the ignition switch retaining tab and carefully pry the ignition switch from the steering column.
Disconnect the electrical connectors from the ignition switch and remove the switch from the vehicle.
INSTALLATION:
Be sure the ignition switch is in the RUN position and the actuator shaft in the ignition lock housing is in the RUN position.
Reconnect the electrical connectors to the ignition switch.
Carefully install the ignition switch, making sure the ignition switch snaps over the retaining tabs.
Install and tighten the ignition switch mounting screw.
Install the key cylinder (ignition lock). Complete the installation by reversing the removal procedures.
Reconnect the negative battery cable.
Check switch operation.

Check all the fuses under the hood and under the dash. Then try having someone wiggle the liftgate while you "tap" the down button repeatedly. Do not apply too much force to the liftgate.

if it is stripped you can remove the top have with a screwdriver by prying up. The bottom half will stay in the valve cover. Use a channel lock to remove the lower half. Very common problem.

My right rear wheel on a 1999 dodge caravan locked up

There are a few things that can cause this,you will have to remove the wheel and brake drum to inspect it . Seized wheel bearing, grease or oil on brake linings,seized cable,if hydraulic seized wheel cylinder pistons. If the linings have oil or grease on them replace them on both sides for even braking.

On my 1999 grand caravan the panel lights are out, as well as license plate light and running lights (front and back), yet the turn signals work as do the brake lights. All fuses I can find look ok. ...

It sounds like you have a bad connection where the plastic surround connects to the lighting switches. That piece from the central console to ring the upper part of the dash has to be removed and use electrical contact cleaner and plug them back in. There are three different connectors on the extreme left side of this plastic surround. Start by removing the plastic shroud under the steering column, unscrew the plastic shroud at the parking brake and then start on the upper hard plastic surround from the center console and remove the screw next to the grill adjacent the door (driver's side). Once the screws are removed, the hard plastic piece just pops out. (Remember, to remove the screws on the cover over the steering wheel; 2 to 4 screws as I remember... it also pops out in an upward direction. (Check any electrical relays as well.)

How do I remove drivers side tail light?

Open the rear hatch, you'll see two plastic push pin fasteners on the side of the tail light lense. Pull out the center peice of the fasteners and the remove the rest of the faster. Remove the tail light assembly.

Replace ignition switch on a 1999 dodge caravan

Take off the plastic housing around the column. then thke off the light ring around the ignition switch. on the underside of the ignition switch there is a half round pin. turn ignition to on position, push uop on pin and pull on key at the same time. the ignition switch should just slide out. Good Lock

Remove the shroud cover, and the plastic ring around the lock cylinder.WD-40 the lock cylinder, Put the key in the ignition. Rap(Hard) on the back of the key while try to turn key. If it turns leave it in the ON(not run)and I'll tell you how to remove the cylinder.(If You need). The cylinder NEEDS to be replaced.

How to replace ign. switch on 93 buick park avenue

First, disconnect the battery, negative terminal first. Next, pull the horn cover, you may need to remove some screws from the back of the steering wheel or it may just pop out with a little assistance.
Once the horn cover is off it should expose the steering wheel retainer nut. Pull the center nut then use a steering wheel puller to remove the steering wheel from the tapered spline. Note the flat spot on the wheel and the shaft so that you can put it all back together right when you're done.
Remove the dust cover and other incidental parts to expose the turn signal switch. By turning the signal switch one way, you should be able to remove the screw that holds the ignition switch in place. After the screw is removed, the keyswitch should pull right out. Put it all back together in reverse order.

Do i to remove my steering wheel to replace my ignition switch

just remove the top and bottom plastic steering colume covers that wrap around the ign lock cylinder. than you will see from the bottom of the barrel where the lock cylinder slides in there should be a 1/8 brass pin in a small hole .. you have to push in this pin while turning the key switch foward, than just slide out the lock cylinder key and all. reinstall is just as simple , slide in the lock cylinder and just remove the key. you should not have to remove the steering wheel at all...

How do i repace ignition switch on 2001 dodge grand caravan

Hi,
The lock can easily be removed if you have a working key and can still turn it to the on position.
You need to remove the screws located in the bottom half of the shroud, then remove the shroud.
Locate the retainer pin ( a small square shaped metal piece) in the bottom of the lock housing) The picture below is for a reference, it is not the same lock but very similiar to yours.
While applying pressure to this pin , use your key to rotate the lock clockwise, until you feel the pin drop into the lock. At this point, you can remove the lock.
