The harness runs from one side to the other. It runs across the top. Start with what harness you can see and cut it open. Look for any melted rubber coatings. To check the entire harness, the dash has to come out. You'll need a manual for that.

Dustin, could be a few things, failing alternator bearing, belt tensioner, Belt it self, water pump,etc. Take to a good technician and have them diagnose and estimate repair.
