The REAR turn signals & most of the brake lights (except for the small light on top) on my 2000 contour svt are not working. Why would this be happening?

It sounds like it is the turn signal switch, which is prone to failure on contours. The turn signal switch turns of the break light to allow the turn signal to operate, since they are the same bulb. The center light operates independently which is why it still works.

No rear brake lights

If you have power thru the brake light switch, the next component to test is the turn signal switch. If the regular brake lights and turn signals are on the same circuit they both go thru the turn signal switch.

Tail light is not lighting up in my 2000 ford expedition

brake and turn are the same filament in the bulb. Try a new bulb. if that doesn't work your going to chase a short/ground on that wire back to the switch. get a wiring diagram to help.

My svt's rear brakes never fully releases? You can

Try removing the drums and checking the mechanism. It could be that dust from the brakelinings is preventing free operation of the brake pads.
Clean out the drums and if the brake pads appear to be stuck a light thump with a hide mallet should release the sticking.

I cannot fix the rear left turn signal/brake light on a 1997 Ford Contour. Where does this circuit go? I don't want to have to take the car to a Ford dealer to fix.

The turn signal/brake light wire goes to the turn signal mechanism in the steering column. It does this so your brake light and turn signals work at the same time. For example you put your foot on the brake and the left brake light will come on but allow the right turn signal to flash. Try you four way flashers and see what happens. Also be wary of the socket the bulb fits into. Double check for voltage with a test light at the wire coming in from the back. Check that the socket is getting a good ground. You can run a ground wire to a clean area of metal from the socket if you have to.
Let me know. Lee

All lights work on the rear except the three brake lights

Sounds like the brake light switch has a problem. Located above brake pedal and activated with the brake pedal arm. Check for power going in and coming out when you apply the brake.

97 FORD CONTOR NO BRAKE LIGHTS INSIDE REAR WINDOW BRAKE LIGHT WORKS,SIGNALS WORK EMEGENCY WORKS TOO ,BUT NO BRAKE LIGHTS. HELP!

If there is no fuse that is blown, then according to wiring diagrams on autozone.com repair info link it must be the combination switch: http://econtent.autozone.com:24991/znetrgs/repair_guide_content/en_us/images//0900c152/80/0a/8d/31//large/0900c152800a8d31.gif

My mother's brake lights (1996 Ford Contour) were not working and it was the combination switch. The combination switch is an assembly by the wheel, you use it to give turn signals, high beam, hazard lights and apparently the 'smart' Ford designers linked the rear brake lights to it. Could be a contact that is oxidized. I repaired mine. I may have one lying around. You can get this from a junk yard. I believe it is pretty simple to remove.
