Problems with nissan quest
Engine? Check to see if the dist rotor turns while cranking with cap removed, if not most likely t-belt broken. In this case engine damage (ie:bent valves, damage/broken pistons)
My Nissan Quest 2000 did not want to start. Ii is now working fine.
your very welcome always remember to go slowly and think about all the possibilities and most times you will come to the conclusion of what can be causing some of the problems with a car or truck they are mostly all the same but like cakes they come in different flavors EX. models but the starting and charging ,fuel ,cooling ,& brake systems are mostly the same design it might be in need of a different tool here & there and some of the steps you have to follow to fix them might be slightly different a good repair manual will guide you along the way in your quest to keep your vehicle running and keep repair bills down and keep you driving on the road instead of standing on the side of it waiting for high priced help preventive simple maintenance will go a long way and the common sense of working on a car safely will help you be your own best friend always over rate jacks & jack stands do not cut corners for $20.00 equipment from walmart get a good hydraulic jack 3 tons and some stands rated the same or better for all 4 wheels remember you will at times be underneath your vehicle and you need to be 1,000,000 % sure that you will be O.K. I always use 4 stands & 2 jacks on level ground always on level ground this way if something does happen a jack springs a leak I have enough back up with the other jacks & stands to keep me safe and try to have someone else with you just incase you do need help or something from the auto parts store so you don't have to start over again & once again do your work safely no jewelry no dangling loose fitting clothes a loose shirt will pull you into the engine if it gets caught on any moving part EX. turning belt alternator power steering electric fan that's why you must go slow & use common sense & you will be find you'll see you will become more aware of what you are doing & how you should do it and always try to not work on a running engine its O.K. to listen for noises but keep your hands and arms away from a running engine even though you are careful about clothing and jewelry a sharp pain or a cramp or some one scaring you can be devastating be aware at all times of what is around you EX. vehicles kids on bikes & skate boards animals anything is possible and you should be on the look out for them its your responsibility to keep your self safe good luck I've taken this time to right this for you & everybody else who will take on the repair work to try to help themselves in this day & age of very costly auto repairs once again safety is the first thing you think of when you are starting your repairs & don't be afraid to ask some one questions auto parts person or a mechanic or look it up on the net the amount of info out there now is amazing good luck LATER MAN!
What caused my 2000 Nissan Quest engine problem?
This engine is definitely beyond repair and needs replacement. I would first shop auto recyclers in your area to find an engine/transaxle with less miles than what your mechanic is offering (100,000 miles is a lot). Hope this helps.

What caused my engine to fail?
I think I would part with it
14 year old nissan/ford combo
It is a van type vehicle & I stay away from them
for safety concerns & lots of failed transaxles
I think the motor failed, but I would gather actual
facts, not the assumed response your mechanic gave you
Do not spend a dime on that vehicle,
too old & many other issues with them
How to turn off service engine soon light
If you turn it off, you loose the data you need
to find the vehicles problems & then it will come
back on anyway, until the vehicle is repaired
Then it could take days to get the data back,
in order to do the diagnostics, just to find the problems
Over heating
check to make sure your head gasket is okay not warp
What wrong whit my 2000 nissan quest it shut down
Your fuel pump is getting bad, you need to replace it as fast as you can. When temp is hot or you ride long distances the fuel pump is getting hot and looses pressure, when you let it cool for a while it may work again for a while, but no one can tell how long!! So my advise would be to replace it as soon as possible. Good luck. (remember the fuel pump is located inside the fuel tank, so to "prevent" overheating while you change it try to have at least 1/2 tank)
