Abs brakes have to be bled in the order the manual states, you will need a power bleeder then follow instructions in the manual. it is the abs cylinder that is hard to get the air out of, imposable if the instructions are not followed .

If there is no nock present after resetting the computer replace it.

when the engine is a top dead center on cyl one put the distributor in so the rotor points to the no1 spark plug wire trminal on the cap try that let me know if it helps

On trucks, they are usually behind the kick panel, on the passenger side.

Rear 11.5 inch should be 3.8 qts

I believe it will but you can talk to someone at a wrecking yard to verify this.

Do you have an owners manual. If you do it will tell you where it is located if your vehicle is equipped with one. IF you don't have a manual, you can get them on line.

When you tow a vehicle -- a flat bed hauler -- is your best bet Next would be -- to use a wheel lift to raise the rear wheels or remove the drive shaft, so the trans does not have any internal parts moving Hard to say IF something was ruined or reverse was about to fail When reverse goes on a rear drive GM trans, your pretty much going to be taking it apart & rebuilding it,as reverse is the first parts into the case & the last out on disassembly

We had this same problem with a 1997 Z71. After putting 3 ignition switches in it in 6 months, We finally figured out that every time we used the 4 wheel Low side of transfer case the ignition would go out immediately. The electric motor that engaged the transfer case was bad & would short out ignition every time we used 4 wheel low. It was VERY expensive to repair. I fixed ignition one last time and got rid of it. Had same exact problem on my 97 k1500, although it would crank after shutting off it just would not start. I fixed the problem by replacing the fuel pump in the tank. I learned that the 5.7 liter needs something like 80 psi to start but will run on around 55-60 psi (fuel pressure)

move car to dirt. or pavement. now it can disengage. why are you in 4wd. if car is not allwheel drive, you need to get off pavement.

You can try a larger allen wrench or try switching between standardand metric wrenches. If this does not work younwill have to drill the bolt and use a easy out.

Don't know if this will help you or not. But we found out with our 97 Silverado, that almost everything electrical went through the ignition switch. You might investigate an ignition problem.

well to answer your question what made the gas go "Bad" does it have water in it ? if so yes i have seen water fill cylinder so engine will part ways turn over and "lock Up" water is Non compessable so that will do it

but if none of this occured , No, sounds as if you have a weak battery or bad connection on one of the wires

I think you have a worn out transmission clutch pack. Time for an overhaual is my GUESS.

Fuse # 20 or 21 gets power through ignition. This fuse controls PRNDL indicator, speedometer, tach, & will cause transmission to not shift gears correctly. Ours took off in 3rd gear when put in Overdrive & only ran in 3rd gear. If we tried to manually shift thru gears (auto trans), it had 1st, 3rd, reverse. No 2nd or over drive. Replaced ignition. Fixed problem. Root problem was Electric motor that engaged 4 wheel low side was bad. Every time we used 4 Low side it threw power surge through ignition & blew ignition out. Good Luck.

Don't know if this will help, but we had a transmission shop flush ours & change a screen in it. Fixed it & was relatively cheap.

look for fuel pressure too high, MAP out of range ,TPS out of range,spark plugs, injector leak hope it helps

Hello BDG, The answer is no. If the VSS fails on your 97 Chevy, you will lose both speedometer and odometer functions. If your speedo is still working and your odometer is not, you have a broke odometer. This is a common failure with a lot of the older vehicles that were fitted with the mechanical odometer registers.
