I accidentally drained some fluid next to the
If you drained it, then I would look at the label of whatever you had in your hand when you did the draining. If you found some fluid there then your caliper has failed and dumped brake fluid. On a car that old, you need to get new/remanufactured calipers installed and the system bled. These will cost about 50 bucks each, with exchange, and the labor should not exceed 3-4 hours.

Fan for radiator not coming on
First off check your fuses and find the wiring harness for your fan and examine it. Look for any broken wires, burnt wires etc Next, grab a test light, unplug the harness from the car and test to see if you have voltage going to the fan. If you do and the fan doesn't work, the fans probably bad. If no voltage, then you may have a bad relay or temperature switch. Also, check your coolant level. That may be affecting your level of heat. If its the blower fan for the heater, do basically the same thing. check it to see if there is voltage going to it.
How do I change the valve cover gasket?
I just changed mine two days ago.I have a 1994 Protege DX and the VIN number says it's a DOHC. It does have two overhead cams BUT the value gasket is for the SOHC. My gasket has 6 holes.... just double check.
Simply loosen the six 10mm bolts and don't forget the 10mm bolt left side holding the timing belt cover in place. Disconnect the two rubber hoses and each end of the valve cover. I used a small screw driver to try out the old gasket. reverse process.
