Check the coolant level for the engine when was it last changed was the system flushed correctly then bled to get all the air out as sometimes the branch pipes to the heater core get airlocks and stop the circulation of hot coolant to the heater core

I had a similar problem years ago. Turned out it was a package of raisins in the back... Your Altima is front-drive, so all that's back there is suspension and what's in the trunk. I'd start by taking everything out of the trunk, including the jack and spare tire. Clunk still there? Ok, try a mechanic, not a dealer "parts replacer".... I have lots of stories about dealers... Bottom line, most dealers don't actually hire mechanics, they get people that simply replace whatever the computer tells them to replace. If there's no "check engine" code, then nothing is wrong.

It could if maybe a warped rotor or caliper is possibly sticking. I might pull the wheels off and inspect rotors. They can warp if they are heated up.
