two ways to do it 1-- drop the pan and drain half the oil and check / clean the filter 2---take it to an accredited auto transmission shop and have it changed with the engine running--- changes all the oil including what is in the torque converter with no need to drop the pan method 2 is more expansive as you have to use more oil but the result is better as it removes any contaminants from the torque converter that method 1 does not do

Check the coolant level for the engine when was it last changed was the system flushed correctly then bled to get all the air out as sometimes the branch pipes to the heater core get airlocks and stop the circulation of hot coolant to the heater core
