Jimmy if the mechanic made a mistake and you believe that caused your leak by all means take it back to him and make him correct his mistake.(then never use him again) I've seen times on GMs including my own where I kept loosing coolant and never saw a drop touching the pavement. Long story short after a long time what I found was the water pump was leaking from one of the weep holes, running down the bottom radiator hose which was hot causing it to evaporate. It took a while but finally left a trail on the hose so I was able to find the problem.
Hope this use a might help you.

Usually the easiest way is to look underneath for signs of leakage. You can usually get a good idea from the puddles or marks on the concrete or blacktop.

I think your shifter tube is broken and this is stopping all electronic communications because the tabs for the shift interlock are not depressed to check slim Jim the passenger door and go to the bottom of the steering column there's a triangular bracket that the shifter cable is attached to and try to move it into park or see if it's wiggles also the shifter lever at the steering wheel if there's a lot of movement your shifter tube is broken you can drop the steering column to fix it with a new one

It may possibly fit between the 2 BUT the distance of travel and position of the float would be different places between the 2 tanks, being of different volume that is. Your best off getting the proper unit for your needs, they're not that expensive from and auto parts counter.

If you're sure the engine is running cool enough check the fuel pressure, low fuel pressure can vapor lock if the engine is hot enough the gas will boil. The boiling point of 87 octane is 181 degrees Fahrenheit although gas is constantly being returned to the tank in order to cool the fuel rail low pressure will not return enough leaving room in the rail for gas to boil. Ignition coils are also known to break down when hot. I hope this helps. Take care.

Sounds like it's in limp mode . Is the check engine light on , or a yellow wrench symbol ? could be a problem with electronic throttle control . Have a scan tool hooked up an checked for DTC'S - diagnostic trouble codes . Your gas pedal has sensors inside that wear out , also throttle position sensors inside the throttle body ,this sensors are inputs to the PCM - engine computer .

Check your power to your fuel pump. Put your ear to the filler for the gas and get someone to turn on the key, do not crank.. You should here the fuel pump cut on. If not suspect pump problem. You can also take the lin loose at the fuel filter and check to see if gas comes out after key is turned on and work your way to the engine if you get gas there just follow the lines.
