quit running means what, engine dead or is not dead but transmission is dead.??? they all do owned long enough, ALL DO. JUST NOW FAILED? STALLS HAVE OVER 50 CAUSES.! no point in listing all ever. WE DO TESTS USING TOOLS AND SKILLS TO FIND IT Gue$$ing is costly, so we get a shop to fix it, 99% do this way. top causes are neglect. not doing tune/up service points on time and at mileage.points spark ,parts, filters , belts and..fluids.(engine) no engine told or VIN so specific answer will be impossible. 2 engines there. ,wow JAG 2003-2005 LS V6 2,967 cc (3.0 L; 181.1 cu in) Jaguar AJ V6 2003-2006 LS V8 3,934 cc (3.9 L; 240.1 cu in) Jaguar AJ-V8 The engine seems cam chain drive best i can tell and is good.

there was an air pump as i remember that automatically adjusted the level, those systems (usually the shocks) were notorious for going out as they aged the seals went bad. it's an expensive fix ..a lot of people used to change that out for normal springs ans shocks or aftermarket air shocks. if you do that be sure to save the old ones because the car will be antique one day and it will keep a new restorer from locking everywhere for those shocks. BTW i'm almost certain they are "rebuildable if you can take some time with it.. keep in mind this is the worst case.. it could just be a bad pump or a bad wire, or relay or maybe a fuse.. .. just be prepared for it to be the shocks themselves .. good luck with it and don't let it get you down there is no need to make it a bigger deal than it is..

no machine made leaks oil on purpose, to the ground, not told to where. but my wild guess is you means inside the engine only, right? we cant see what you are doing blind, no photos with added arrows. oil leaks are bad seals, bad gaskets, loose part or casting flaws. the chain tension-er is fed by the main oil pump gallery in the block. yes the tension-er has an oil powered tiny piston, that might leak but leaks to the pan. buy new one see if it leaks.? yes that old 19 year old part may be bad, or IMO is bad. your old tensioner has built in seal on the back side and that most never leak. ok?? the blue seal does no leak but the piston may to better lube the chain, but IDK for sure.

who to use tools? or how to get hands on them. It shouldn't do, but that vehicle has so many modules and sensors even for AC and heating. You will need a mobile auto electrician. You should never cut wires, just remove connectors and tape them up. If you cut the wires with the battery connected, the cutting may have shorted something. When you disconnected the battery you also disconnected all the systems for the immobilizer and security system. It needs resetting.

Heater core duct door is stuck open, actuator is faulty....under dash, closest too the firewall.......

From the sound of it you really are going to need a transmission service beyond just a fluid and filter change. Generally speaking, when a trans. filter becomes restricted, it limits the flow slightly. You're more likely to take off more slowly and shift more slowly. Hard hitting transmission issues gets into the clutches and solenoids. You can always take off the transmission pan and replace the filter, it's not that difficult if you know how to properly re-seal the pan after properly installing the new filter. U-tube has many videos of transmission filter and pan replacements.
