Here are the steps repeated from bove with photos

1. Unplug machine from power
2. Pry of the dome shaped cover at the back - putting a flathead screwdriver under it witll work, note the plastic prongs on the inside of it below
3. Get a couple of screwdrivers to hold out th e prongs on the speed control ring and then prise it of by intserting a srewdiver in front of the ring
4. 
5. Now you can tighten the nut on the vertical bolt at the lower inside of the mixer using a small screwdriver to push the nut around till it is tight and then add some loctite (or nail polish) to stop it coming undone.

7. The tilt mechanism should now work. To reassemble align the off indicator on the top of the machine with the OFF on the speed control ring and push it back on. Push on the dome shaped cover and you are finished.

The mixmasters that I've had have an on/off switch.

Check with a flashlight above and below the S and the m of Sunbeam, push them inward they are hard to push you will not fell any flexibility you can use a thin spatula around the outside of the grey ring the chrome middle part is screw to the grey ring use a small screwdriver or a little blade to pry on the tab and with the spatula apply a little tension to lift out the front after you push one tab above the S, you may not fell the effet it's ok keep the tension and pry the tab above the m if nothing move prying both tab above when one side pop out do the same technique on the tab below. voil?! '-)

Probably because the bowl you are using is not the one that came with the mixer. It may be too thick, or something. Try a thinner bottomed-bowl. Also, are they the original beaters? Could they be longer than the originals? God bless your efforts.

If you are trying to remove the chrome cover from the black body of the mixer .... CAREFULLY.... insert the tip of a medium flat-blade screwdriver along the seam of the circular chrome disc on the front of the black motor housing. Move/rotate the screwdriver blade back and forth to pry the chrome disc off. It is on just by a pressure fit. Your photo was very helpful! I wish more people would do that!

There is a cover plate over the screw that you need to tighten. This cover plate is held in place by two spring latches, 180 degrees apart. Use a small flat-tip screwdriver to depress first one latch, then the other. Don't use too much force - the latches are plastic and will break if treated roughly.

This is not something I would try as a consumer. Proper oiling requires disassembly. Take it to a reputable repair shop.

Does the bowl table rotate freely by hand? If not, it may need a squirt of spray lubricant. If the table rotates freely by hand but doesn't turn when mixing, look at the bottom of your beaters. The beater that is closer to the outside should have a nylon button at the bottom. This nylon button rotates the bowl as it turns. If the button is worn or missing, you will need to get new beaters.

Do you mean the beaters? Take a look near the top of the beater shaft. Does it have a slot which holds a wire ring? If the wire ring is missing, that would explain why it won't stay in. Try shopping for a new set of beaters if that's the problem.
