Motor head will not tilt back
Push down slightly on the head and then the button will go in further and the top will release. ((this answer after I just bought it home and was about to take it back to the store!!))
Beater keeps falling out. The
Sunbeam 2366 stand mixer -- Front view: mixer-0-small.JPG --
-- image of the "beater clip": mixer-1-small.JPG -- notice the wear on the plastic clip --
-- image of the "modified" beater: mixer-2-small.JPG - I took a paper clip an wound very tightly to the smallest diameter (notice it covers the entire section to prevent slippage) and then put one wrap around the "top knot" to increase diameter --
-- image of the back of the front cover: mixer-3-small.JPG - notice the broken clip at the top. I used a wide scrapper blade to separate the cover from the main body.

Will not mix
if the motor isnt making a noise then it could be the brushes in the motor that are worn.. or it could be the fuze in the plug have you tried a new one in there
Need interior diagram of Sunbeam MixMaster Model 2486
Here's the solution. The spring controls the beater eject button. The spring is mounted on the metal shaft and is oriented so that the straight side of the spring rests along the white plastic part adjacent to the shaft, and the curved side of the spring points outward and downward so that it will rest against the case when the unit is reassembled. See photo.
Does not come on.
does it get 110 vac ? no lights on the machine indicating power but not running ?
Beaters will not turn
This will definitely be a problem with the actual beater gearbox unit inside the front and under the top handle of the machine.
I've had my wifes one apart and it was difficult at best to even do that, so my recommendation is to take it back to the shop if it is still in the warranty period.
If not, take it to a small machine mechanic and get a Quote for repair before anything is done as it's quite likely that the repair will cost as much as a new mixer.
