If you are going to DIY and already try the monitor with another PC, and have proper tools and know safety precaution then please read on: Most common failures in the LCD monitors are bad capacitors (bulging top/seal or leaking) in the power supply (they should be replaced in a set), blown fuses; poor solder joints, failed inverter circuits (blown fuse, shorted transistors, shorted/open transformers), bad lamps (poor solder connections or worn out lamps). change the pc screen resolution to a lower value. check the phase setting menu on the projector

if it does not power up, then it means its having a power problem. it might have worked fine in the past, but that's electronics for you. Power surge, irregular power supply, excess power supply, etc can affect the unit thereby not making it to power on.

This unit must have a power supply board in it where power enters from the mains. A capacitor, fuse, diode, etc may have been defective on the power board and maybe that's why its not making the unit turn on. There might also be some disconnection or something, inside the unit which is not making it to power on.

To actually find out what's wrong, you need to disassemble the unit with a screw driver and check what's wrong. You will be needing a meter in order to test the components on the power board, once you detect any bad component, you can make necessary replacement at any electronics accessories store withing our vicinity. This is the only way by which you can detect the problem.

Of course, testing the power board with a meter will require someone that has the ability. So it you can't, then you might be needing the help of a repairman or you can call a friend that has the ability to help you out.

Power source probably incorrect, Sounds like it too little and cant keep the screen lit. There should be a label on the back that will tell you the input Amps and Voltage or look at the connection and see if it has the voltage inscribed somewhere on it. Best of luck.

If you are certain that it is not a simple problem like your screen brightness being turned down too low, then this is usually an indication of a hardware fault on one of the circuit boards inside your monitor.

I am assuming that the screen is dark and unlit while the power is on, rather than lit up but without a picture signal. Please confirm if that is the case.

In most cases (well over half the time) this symptom is caused by some bad capacitors on the power supply circuit board which results in the backlights not receiving adequate power to light up.

It could also be a bad surface mounted fuse on the inverter circuit board, but that is slighly less common.

Either way, the problem is interfering with the correct operation of the backlights in your LCD monitor resulting in the dark screen.

If you are handy with a screwdriver and a soldering iron, you may be able to disassemble the unit and check the various circuit boards for bad components. The main thing you would be looking for is any scorch marks or burned components. When electrolytic capacitors fail, they usually expand slightly and bulge out their normally flat tops or leak out brown gunk. There should be a bunch of these types of capacitors on the power supply board and you would want to give them a very close inspection for damage while you are in there.

However, I am completely unaware as to your ability or desire to carry out any kind of electronic troubleshooting yourself. There are some obvious electrical safety precautions to take into consideration, and even when the unit is unplugged, there are still some components inside like the large capacitors which can remain significantly dangerous.

I have no way to know if you are allowed this access or not so suggesting that you contact your system administrator or your IT guy for the password.

Common failures are due to bad caps in the power supply, that will be the first place to check.

Navigate to the control panel, click Start then click control panel.

Double click power options.

On the Power Schemes tab ensure that the fields are set to NEVER.

You can however set the monitor to turn off after 20min which I do recommend, to make your computer more energy efficient.

If only one color is not working - it is usually just the connector of the screen or the monitor cable itself that is faulty. Remove the Monitor Data cable that plugs into your PC and check that NO pins are bent or pushed into the socket - then re-insert the VGA connector into the PC and make sure that the part of the cable that plugs into the monitor itself is also secured properly. That should solve the problem. If not - it could be the cable itself - bend the cable at the connector to check for a lose wire inside. If the color suddenly comes back - replace the data cable to the monitor.

I have a similar problem on my Planar PD470; power supply failed after about a year and a half. I heard that their HDTV power supplies had a higher than normal failure rate. I have someone working with the company to resolve, but I'm not optimistic... Bah Humbug. How long have you had your set?

Start checking for bad caps with bulging tops in the power supply first.

It has white screen becuase it may not be getting the 5vdc from the logic board to the T-CON board or the board has blown fuse.

Also look to see if power supply/logic bd had any bad caps also.

When it lights up the orange light, that means that the monitor is not getting a signal from the computer.
The things to try (from simplest to most complex) are:

1. Make sure the computer is on and not in "sleep" mode -- press the "Caps Lock" key and see if it lights up the caps-lock light on the keyboard.
2. Make sure the video cable is connected from the computer to the monitor (that the cable hasn't come loose on either end)
3. If your monitor has multiple inputs, make sure it's set to the right (probably analog VGA or DVI) input
4. If your computer has more than one video output (like a laptop with it's internal screen plus the external monitor) then make sure the external monitor is enabled

If none of those solve it, post a comment back here and we can dive in to the more complex tests

this is a common problem with the capacitor, try opening your monitor and see if there is a capacitor swalow like gonna blow... the capacitor has a form like a AA battery... if changing the capacitor the problem persist maybe is a problem with the board and you need to search if the board have continous power....

Accord to the manufacturer, there aren't any. Just use a standard Windows driver for a LCD monitor. I just went looking for the same thing. :-)
