Philips Coffee Makers & Espresso Machines - Page 7 - Recent Questions, Troubleshooting & Support
I have recently acquired an unused HD5179 Espresso
I too have the same problem wth HD5179..i took it to philips service centre...they barely looked at it and said SORRY NO SPARES for this model. It seems in INDIA philips does not have facilities to service home use exopresso machines...a sad state of affarirs
The indicator light continues to blink rapidly
you are correct in thinking the problem is caused by the valve. Use a magnet to connect to the valve from the outside of the machine, slide the magnet very slowly upwards along the water level, the rapid flashing should stop and the water should begin to heat, if not try again as you have not connected the valve to the magnet
I turn on the machine, and the light just blinks
at the side of the machine by the water level you will see a float, sometimes this float gets stuck, use a magnet on the outside of the machine to connect with the magnet in the float and then slowly slide the magnet upwards, the float will follow the magnet and the light will flash slowly and the water will heat, if the light continues to flash rapidly you have not connected with the magnet - try again
Philips senseo coffee is watery
It may be the pod holder, there is a seal under the black disc at the bottom of the holder, the water will bypass the coffee under pressure, travel to the outside of the pod holder and exit the centre where the filter mesh is,if there is no foam also this is a sure sign, fill the empty pod holder with water and see how quick the water drips,I had this same issue and bought a new pod holder and compared, should be no more than 1 drop a second, you can knock the plastic out and re seat the O ring or buy a new holder, hope this is of use to you
How do you 'Calc Clean'?
Hello shid9
This is an easy fix. To decalcify your unit you need to make a water/vinegar solution. 2 parts water and 1 part vinegar. You might need to run two pots of the solution through if the first one is very cloudy. When done with that, rinse with 1 pot of fresh water. This should help remedy your calc problem. I hope this is helpful for you.
Happy brewing! NormanZ
