Hi,
You made have a leak causing the drain pump to keep running, if you never worked on this unit before I would suggest you call a professional. If you have worked on this before then look for water in drain pan to unit, the reason is water has entered drain pan and caused the float to turn on pump, could be from the drain hose, leak in a hose, or the diverter. all this part are located unit unit in access area (small panel under large door).
Good Luck, I hope this helps...

I havent used my dishwasher in weeks because it leaves a gritty stuff on the dishes and though they seem to be clean they are not

some of the new detergents have additives in them such as "bleaching action" or with dawn additive. these compounds are very difficult to rinse off, and most people use way too much detergent anyway. run your dishwasher empty on the hottest setting for 2 or 3 cycles. add a cup of white vinegar to each cycle. after you are done, try to use plain cascade powder, and only use a tablespoon. your problem should go away. keep in mind that more detergent is not better, and the detergent manufacturer makes money when you use their product. they are going to recommend that you use alot. you need to vary the amount of detergent with the amount of soil on your dishes. If you pre wash your dishes before you load them, you dont need much detergent at all. the recommended amount is for really dirty dishes.

Water does not drain from machine at end of cycle

it sounds like the out flow is blocked some where on the front of your machine normally down the bottom there is a door open it behind should be a tap/plug type of thing turn it but put something underneath to catch the water this takes time when done take the plug out all the way have a look at the fan behind it will probably be blocked

Sounds as though the drain is blocked partially. E4 is the overfill code. Try cleaning out the drain.

Kenmore dishwasher not draining when finished full cleaning cycle

sounds like a cycle timer problem. Look for a loose wire on the cycle timer. If yours is a digital timer, it is a board issue. Sorry.

Loud noise

My Dishwasher had the same loud Grinding Noise.
It was a piece of a plastic fork lodged behind the macerator blade.
This is at the suction to the pump just under the strainer. check this out first before you pull everything apart. You should be able to get to it by taking the lower arm off and pulling the strainer out. Hope this helps.

Loud Knocking/Ticking Sound During Cycle

have you lowered the top basket into the lower position? if so the spray arm will knock the cutlery /plates. it sounds as though it is a spray arm problem. remove them and put it in wash to see if the noise goes. if not there may be an obstruction in the wash pump, this is a stripdown job then.
