My air conditioner doesn't blow cold air continually. It will for a minute or two then the fan switches on to lukewarm air? It's not cooling barely at all. Please help. I've rinsed the filter and the coils look pretty clean.

SOURCE: air conditioner doesn't blow cold air. Continues

If the a/c fails to continue to blow cold there could be a few problems you can look for. First once you activate the system check to see if the compressor kicks in. You will hear the compressor humming . Once the a/c quits cooling go and see if the compressor is still running. If its not running its probibly gone into thermal overload (compressor overheated). If that is the case then you need to check to see if the coils are icing up if they are icing up then the problem is with 1) air flow restriction filter dirty, coils dirty simple repairs there replace filter, clean evaporator coil with a coil cleaner that can be purchased at a home repair store cleaning the condensor coil the same. 2) system is low on freon in which case the system will need to be recharged. Also, If you have a digital thermostat replace the batteries that may also be of some help. Good Luck on repairs

SOURCE: my air conditioner coils continue to freeze up. i

If the indoor coil is icing up, you are either low on freon, or the indoor coil is very dirty. This will cause it to ice even though you have replaced the filter. See if the suction line/large copper line has ice on it on the outdoor unit. If so, its low on charge or the indoor coil has plugged up and not getting enough air flow across it. Please keep me posted.

SOURCE: Air doesn't get cold like

Hello, yes the unit can be recharged but you need to install a piercing valve on tje low side of the system to charge in the refrigerant here is a link to where you can buy piercing valves. http://www.globalindustrial.com/g/hvac/parts/ac_accessories/Supco-Acces-Valves

Gas package unit

the bushing or the bearing in the motor may have already worn out. or may need some lubrication. the rotor is trying to turn but it's stiff and won't continue to turn. dont continue to turn on if it wont spin otherwise you'll damage the motor further. it might also be the busted capacitor "if it has"

Air Conditioner

Someone will need to find out if the compressor clutch is failing, or if it is loosing power due to a pressure switch or other problem.
A faulty relay or switch could get hot and switch off power to the compressor.

Window air conditioner cools (very icy cool air) for a minute or two then switches to fan. Will then stay on fan for about 10 minutes and then once again get "very cold", but only for a minute or two

Before I even read that far into your post, I was thinking "thermostat" replace it...It seems to be failing badly. If you take it into logical perspective...normally the unit gets turned on, then takes a bit to get cold, then once it reaches its pre-determined temperature, turns the unit either "off" or just blows the fan...by kicking off the compressor. This unit you have is getting this cycle done within 5 minutes instead of a few hours...replace the thermo and you should be fine. Now if you could post the exact model number here I can go look up the part for you.

Hi, I just bought a Friedrich air conditioner - CP12F10. I bought it 7/23/11 from a retail store. It's been working fine until this weekend. When I turn it on, it sounds after a while, like it's...

The water you hear is the water in in the drip/drain pan. In most cases, that sound is normal. However, if you don't have the rear of the unit tilted down at least 1/4" to 1/2", the water can not reach the drain hole and drain away, as it should. Correcting that should help solve the other issues you mentioned.

Hope this helped you and thanks for choosing FixYa.

replace it,most likely the freon leaked out,if the compressor is running and the fan is blowing but not getting cold most likely you have a leak in the sealed system.
