Do you see the backlight ever coming to the screen?

You will want to open the cover, disconnect the backlight inverter and try again to see if it will stay on even without an image.

If it does it's the inverter.

if it still shuts it's most likely (not guaranteed) either the power board itself or the main board.

A good tech should be able to test the power board independantly fairly quickly.

I have the same problem. When I go turn tv on the backlight looks to come on but no image/channel label/menu/volume show then it turns off with power light going from green to a red then off. Then tv turns on again then off again on its own and then it finally stays off unless I press power button on remote/tv and then it just does what I mentioned above as in repeats itself.

The volume turns down by itself when we are watching tv. What else can be done?

Take the batteries out of the remote or cover the IR emitter to determine if the remote volume button is the problem. If not then check the button on TV utself to make sure it's not stuck

Samsung BN59-00849A remote. The Power button will not turn on the TV. It turns off the TV and all other buttons work properly.

Check batteries. Do a Factory reset. Press Menu & then use the arrow keys to navigate. Select the following in order: Support, Enter, Self Diagnosis, Enter, Reset. Enter Security pin as '0000' unless you have changed it. Then select yes & enter. The TV will turn off & restart again & display the Start up screen. if this also doesn't work then you have to contact the TV manufacturer to replace the remote control.

A component is shorting out, and the TV is auto turning itself off for protection. Usually it is a shorted out horizontal output transistor. Only a tech can fix this.

KV 27S65 Sony Trinitron 27"

So far you have done all you can and you have done everything right. The fact that the TV turned off by itself and then turned back on by itself suggests that one or more solder joints have come loose inside the set. A qualified tech should find this easy to fix, and Sony sets are always worth repairing, so it is now time to have the set serviced by a tech experienced in Sony standard sets.
