The element at the back of the dryer is broken, could be cheaper to buy a new one than fixing the old one

Kenmore series 80 gas dryer 6 yrs old will start and tumble but will not heat up

Gas dryers have an ignition panel that gets hot and when it reaches a certain temperature it causes the pilot light to ignite. It sounds as if your ignition needs to be replaced. We did this and had another 6 years from our gas dryer.
If you're handy you can probably do this replacement yourself. If you're like my spouse and me, we found a reasonably priced professional who completed it in just a few minutes.
Good luck. I hope this helps you. If it does, please come back to Fixya and rate my help!

No heat from dryer

Common faults -
1 The heating elements can fail (meaning open circuit)
2 There are cut-outs (T.O.C's) that might need resetting
3 The thermostats (stats) can trip out or burn out (meaning opencircuit)
4 Moderntumble dryers also have sensors and pcb's (Printed circuitboards) thesehave programs that can fail and circuitry although most should produce an errorcode showing you were the fault is.
5 Faultyconnections and burned wires may also be the fault.

MAYTAG GAS DRYER TUMBLES BUT NO HEAT (FRONT LOADER 6 YRS. OLD)

Hello maryfitgera,
It certainly sounds like you are not getting a flame established in your dryer. That can be one of several components such as a non-resettable thermal fuse, gas valve assembly or control relay to that gas valve assembly. Unless you are well versed on how to work on these kinds of components, I suggest you just call in an appliance tech or.. let me know if you want to attempt diagnosing and repairing it yourself. Be advised that there are elements of danger in so doing. Let me know how you want to procede on this and I'd be happy to walk you thru it..
Regards,
Rick
