I undocked my compaq 6320 laptop - just after accidently hitting the dock- power button (before hitting the eject button). I ejected the computer but noticed it began to start-up but shut down because my laptop lid closed. Now I cannot get my laptop power button to function. I can get the laptop to start up - in the dock ONLY. In the dock the laptop power button works but if I eject the laptop it shuts down and the power button does function. I have tried a complete shutdown (in the dock). Ejecting and trying to start it undocked - without success.

Have you tried holding the power button for about 6 seconds - try shutting it down that way. Then try starting it.

Try removing the laptop from the doc, pulling out the battery, hold the power button down for 10-20 seconds, and re-install the battery.

This should drain out the laptop and it should boot up properly without the dock.

Toshiba undock

Hello Eleanor,

By your question I can not tell if you have used the docking station or not so here is the removal procedure for a Hi Speed Port Replicator II
To disconnect the Port Replicator, follow the steps below.
1. Set the computer lock to the unlock position.
2. Make sure you perform
one of the following:
• Save all your work.
• Turn off the computer's power in any mode: boot, suspend or hibernation.
• Perform any software disconnect operation required by the operating
system.
• Press the eject switch.
CAUTION:
Make sure the Eject LED is out. Do not try to disconnect the
computer while the Eject LED is glowing.
3. Pull the eject lever out towards you to disconnect the computer.
4. Lift off the computer

Now if there are further problems or this did not help you please post further information like at what step did the station not perform correctly. Hope this helped.

Connect power back, and keep REPEATEDLY pressing the eject button while you connect. If still no ject press power on button while you keep hitting the ehect button. You need to press eject on the unit, do not use the remote.

If that does not work, then the unit must be taken apart.

Turn off laptop to undock/dock?

Yes, You can just push the big "undock button and undock it anytime.

However, if you are using a "hardwired" internet connection, you will lose connectivity.

Otherwise, it is perfectly fine to do so.

Removing laptop from docking station

If you have the ArmadaStation EM:

The issue of removing the notebook is compounded by the fact that the ArmadaStation EM uses a motorized dock/undock mechanism to remove the notebook. When the expansion base has no power, it is unable to eject the notebook with the motor
To manually remove the notebook, use manual eject lever to push notebook out of ArmadaStation EM. The manual eject level is a small white lever located inside the back cover of the base. To remove the notebook, push the white lever to the left. Slight pulling is required to remove the notebook completely out of the base.

Hope this helps!
