To secure your Internet connection from unauthorized access you need you encrypt your router's wireless settings.
To connect to your wireless router, the router's wirelesssettings needs to be configured with the SSID, encryption etc. and also thewireless cards in all the laptops/computers needs to be configured with theserouter's wireless settings. Then the laptops/desktop computers can communicatewith your wireless router.
Connect a LAN cable from the Linksys to the LAN port on your computer.
Open a browser and enter the Linksys configuration URL
http://192.168.1.1
The default login = admin
The default PW = admin
You can protect your router by changing the default admin PW (write it down andput it in a safe place)
Go to the wireless configuration and set up the SSID and WPA or WPA2encryption.
Apply these settings to the wireless card in your laptop/computer.

Do you mean to change the password of the wireless network?

For this you will need to open the setup page of the router.
Connect the computer to the router and open the setup page of the router.
Go to wireless tab and change the security settings.

Which password? Are you trying to connect to the wireless network. Make sure that you have the correct network password. Open the setup page of the wireless router and check the wireless network key WEP WPA.
If you are trying to open the setup page of the router then try default password admin.

No, but you can just reset the whole router and start from scratch. Hold the reset button on the rear of the router for 60 seconds and your will restore the unit to defaults, at which point you just need to reconfigure all of your configuration settings and password, as well as your wireless access code. You can try to change the browser settings.

1. If you're using Internet Explorer, click on the Tools tab
2. Click Internet Options
3. Click on the Security Tab, then under security level for this zone , set it to medium or low. Hit apply
4. Click on Custom Level , scroll all the way down and on User Authentication, set it to prompt for username and password. Click OK.

Check if the router is assigning IP addresses to the Wireless devices. Also se if you hard-wired desktop has been assigned an IP address manually. Else try to assign IP's to wireless devices manually (Depends on your setup)

" 401 unauthorized" authorization required " .This message means the user name and password for the router is not correct. the default password of the Linksys router is admin with no user name ( leave it blank )
If the default password is not working then the router password must be changed.
If you don't know the password of the router then you will need to reset and reconfigure the router.
Once you reset the router , it will come back to the factory default settings.

Try using admin as the password and leaving the username blank instead.
