Hi!
I worked with HP before, their computer hardware have what they so called "System Tattoo", this prevents the end users to change any hardware in the computer. You may try calling them at 800-474-6836. Hope this helps even a bit.

HP Compaq Presario SR1430NX Powering On Issues...HELP!!??!??

If the power supply is "Fine" then it has to be your motherboard. Look for the capacitors around the board. They should have either a dished or flat top. If any are domed or have a powdery substance on them, they will need replacing. Or if you don't want to do this, replace the board.

Can i get a new processor fan for my Compaq presario SR1430NX? I have a Intel Pentium 4CPU 2.93GHz processor

Yes, new fans are available online at sites like http://newegg.com, These are sold to match the processor so make sure you select one for your EXACT model, to avoid damage. These are difficult and complex to install however and I would not recommend doing it unless you are a computer expert, take it in to your local HP service provider to have the fan replaced, fans are about 15-30 dollars, so don't let them rip you off. Hope this helps.

COMPAQ PRESARIO M2000 RECOVERY DISC WILL NOT LOAD ON NEW HARD DRIVE

The issue here to be quite frank is the hard drive needs the compaq image before the recovery disk can be loaded. This provents people from taking there compaq disk and getting wise and installing it on multiable computers what authors call piracy.

What you need to do is have compaq NOW HP send you out a IMAGE recovery disc usually when a hard drive crashes they send you out the hard drive with the IMAGE.

The other solution is purchasing windows 7 upgrade and going at it from there.

Thanks hope this helps please do not shoot the messenger and leave postive feedback and ratings.

Sr 1430 start up problem, during boot up, a screen comes up wanting me to press f2 to boot computor

Is it throwing up a 'disk read' or 'no physical drive installed' error?

In most cases, a boot error in bios (the pre-installed program a computer uses prior to loading an operating system such as Windows, Linux or Mac OSX) usually points to:

- disconnected cables running from the board to the hard drive(s)
- malfunctioning ports (IDE ports especially)
- dead or dying hard drive(s)

Open the case (if you don't mind voiding a warranty that you may still have) and check the cables that run from your drive(s) to the board and from the power supply to the hard drive(s) to ensure that the cables are firmly attached at all ends.

If so, the best way to test a hard drive without spending at least $100.00 for diagnostics is to install it(or them) into another computer and boot. If that computer boots with your drive(s), the problem may be on the board or with the PSU (power supply unit). In either case, you'll probably be looking at anywhere between $100.00 and $200.00 to replace.

Before you do anything, though, there's a button battery attached to the board; remove that for about a half hour, reattach it then try to boot. Sometimes this can clear up boot issues.

If the hard drive has died, DO NOT dispose of it. Most people think that their data is lost in the death of a drive and that's not true. Take it to a professional 'computer guy' and have the data extracted and saved to a new drive. The cost should be around $100.00 for data recovery... no more than that unless a new drive is part of the deal.

Compaq Presario C300 Recoivery Disc 2 corrupt

Hi John.

F11 process is not working and you get a NTLDR missing when you turnon the notebook.

Steps to be performed:
1. Perform hard drive self test from BIOS.
2. If it is passed then use retail version of operating system disk to install XP or try using new recovery disks which nay cost you $15.00.

In your notebook model this issue appears if there is any issue with the hard drive.

I had a problem recovering my computer. I bought recovery disks from compaq. 4 hours into I got a message Can not copy X:\WINDOW\1386\LANG\IMJPCL\HL_. Can I fix this? If it is possible great I will pa

Sounds to me like the hard drive has bad sectors on it and it can't copy all the files to it. Also its taking way way to long to recover, shouldn't take that many hours to recover the computer with the disks.

Its taking to long to copy and verify the information to the hard drive. Get the hard drive replaced with a new one or a known good used one.

Compaq Presario sr1000(sr1430NX) will not stay powered on

Hi!

Please check for the cables coming into the motherboard from the power supply. Also try and check for any loose cables.

If that doesn't help then please get your power supply changed as its faulty.

Please rate this solution.

Thanks

Format a Compaq

if its just the one drive in the PC its very simple.. when you format it you lose everything including your operating system (windows).. so you have to start by inserting the installation disk into the CD/DVD drive and choose to install windows.. during this procedure you can delete all data from the drive and re-format it before windows is installed..
