Emachine with dynex dx-e102 ethernet card will not get a connection. I updated the driver, but still the same. an ! mark at the desktop icon. Hardware says working correctly. Wher do i go from here?

You don't. Emachines are junk. I had more come through this year then ever! Buy an aftermaket card if you need a connection. Dynex is actually a "Best Buy" brand. Look for a Linksys or go wifi with a Lynksys. About the same price.

speed is a function of line of sight distance so measure distance from wireless router for pc and then open that utililty on pc and see what relative speed is happening

if the signal is less than 3 bars, that is like a wireless tach

need at least 3 to 5 bars to get speed

also, your pc has a network adapter card no doubt might be that it's running a full tilt and needs an upgrade

maybe you need to configure this ethernet switch or it is a password problem i have used a ethernet splitter switch to use two connect 2 computers before purchasing a router which needed to be configured

Vista you will not need any drivers as long as you run the updates, it will detect it and install them.
