The button you are looking for should actually be right on your touchpad. It's in the center at the top of the pad. Just press it and your light should go blue
I had the same question and finally found the answer. When the amber light comes on and on your touchpad freezes.... Simply double click on the amber light to turn it back on!
Tap the orange light quickly two times to enable the touchpad. Touch the same spot twice to disable the touchpad. To see the instructions from HP type "mouse" into the Search Programs and Files. Click on "Change mouse settings" and click Device Settings. Click on "Settings" and click "Touch pad disable zone". I was delighted to have found this as I had been restarting the computer manually to enable the touchpad. Shame on HP. The instructions for this simple problem are difficult to locate for the average user. They can do better.
Try disconnecting the mouse from the usb port and reboot the unit.
Now, on your touch pad, top left blue led is let showing it is functioning. Press the center button next to the led, which will shut off the internal mouse.
Plug in your mouse to a different USB port and the unit should see the mouse.
If not and the mouse does not light up, replace the mouse.
You may have had a conflict with the internal and external mouse.
There is not a whole lot of information that you are giving us. There would be two reasons the touchpad does not work...one, there is a small button above the touchpad and if it is red (orange) the pad is off and you have to tap that button until the light turns blue. If the light is blue, then the tapping part of the pad has been turned off in mouse properties. Open control panel > mouse Properties > device settings > click on settings button and enable tapping. All other touchpad settings are in there to modify also.
Sorry to hear about your mouse problems.. 1st. If you are using a Pavilion DV6000 series unit, their is a Push Button Switch on the top center of your mouse pad. When the mouse is enabled, the light off to the left of the switch is Blue. When disabled, it will be amber or Orange. If this has helped your problem, No need to go any further !.. If you still have the same problems and the light is Blue, You will have to reload the drivers for that device. Please drop me a email and let me know which it is. ?? Hope this has helped you with your problem.!! Readers, Please rate your technicians, agree or disagree, it lets us know you are reading the information you have requested.
