Grinder runs with NO beans inside

I've had the EAM-3500 for few months and it has been working ok until now.
Normally when I press a button to make a coffee, the grinder goes on for about 4-6 seconds, grinds the beans then start the whole process.
When there is not enough beans and we make a coffee, the grinder goes on for few seconds and display a message "to add more beans".
Now the grinder goes on for 30 to 40 seconds (even if there are no beans) than make the coffee.
I have suspected that the bean sensor was defective, so I contacted the MFG to get the service manual or electrical diagram, and they responded to me an gave me a phone number to call in CA, I call them and they sent me a copy of the Diagram & Diagnostic manual.I looked everywhere and can not find a bean sensor, I did a factory reset and it did not help.
Any help will be appreciatted.
Peter

Fill beans before they run out!
If you hear the grinder running empty, press the same button you pressed to start making coffe to cancel the current cup -or, if some beans were ground, stop the water a bit earlier to make a shorter coffe using the same method (press the button you pressed to start the cup). The auto-detect of beans missing is a very minor and largely useless feature.

How to fix, "no bean light" stays on?

hi there,
have you also cleaned the output of the grinder and the doser?
You have to open it (carefully) by hand, as it is normally closed and only opens when the actuator is switched on, and clean the inside with a soft brush.

After cleaning the grinder, its outlet and the doser, the machine will have to gring at least twice ti fill-in these parts, each time saying that there are no beans. It should be OK with the 2nd our 3rd cycle of grinding.

Hope that helps,
M.

The grinder on my DeLonghi seems to be stuck. It makes only a noise but not s bean is ground and one can hear it is not turning. Any solutions? Thank you

Likely a foreign object is blocking up the grinder. Remove all beans and run at coarsest grind to try to clear it, chase it through with more beans if necessary. If this does not clear it then the top burr of the grinder assembly can be removed after disassembling the machine. Mark the grinder coarseness cogs before moving them to assist reassembly. Moderately difficult procedure.

How many seconds of grind for standard drip grind

I've long ago lost the manual that came with my grinder (I actually don't remember if it even had one), but I don't think it listed grinding times. You just grind a few seconds and check, then grind a little more if it's still too coarse. Unlike a burr grinder which is adjustable, in a blade grinder the same grind time may result in different consistencies as you change beans. By now I've just learned how long to hold the button for the different beans I buy, and the first few times I try a new blend or varietal I have to adjust the time. I think you'll just need to experiment and then you'll know what works best for your tastes.

Jura E8 beans will not pass through grinder resulting in "Fill Beans" error message. Saw reference to Kaffeestudio.com for dissasembly instructions but that link no longer works. I assume that the chute...

It seems withthis model you have a 1 year or 4000 cups warranty with this.
If you are within this, then give them a call - here is the Manual if you don't have it -
MANUAL -

I suggest you start by removing the beans in the hopper and wiping around to remove oils.
Then refill with fresh dry beans.
Plug in and set up as normal
Set to brew a standard large cup - and adjust grinder to coarse setting while grinding.
Do not adjust with grinder quiet - it must be done while rotating.

Make at least 10 cups this way at the coarse setting.

I think what has happened is that damp beans (frozen or cold) have entered the unit and caused the coffee to gum up at the top of the burr.
This will just push fresh beans out of the way instead of starting to grind them.

If you use dry (light loast) beans, it doesn't seem to happen as much.

Just ake sure you refrigerate most of your stocks, but keep a small stock at room temperature in an airtight tin to prevent this kind of thing.

You can actually push down on the bean stack slightly with a wooden object while the grinder is running if nothing moves on the coarse setting to get things moving.

Oily beans seem to have clogged our coffee grinder up. What can we do?

Rotate the bean hopper counter clockwise until it stops. Lift it off. Remove the outer burr with the 2 wings and clean under the burr. Clean the opening going to the chute for ground coffee(inside where the burr was).
Install the outer burr. Install the bean hopper. Rotate the bean hopper to the French press grind (coarsest) and operate the grinder. This will clean the burrs and the passages. If it starts to clog, repeat the last part to clean the burrs and passage. It must be grinding to go to a finer setting, but you can go to a coarser setting any time. Another thing. Turn the grinder upside down (empty) and rotate the bean hopper back and forth to clean the threads of the adjusting burr..

Jura E9 grinder spins but does not grind

I had a similar problem, and solved it by turning the grinder by hand against resistance. Apparently the grinder wasn't really turning during the cycle and needed to be cleared. If your beans are "hopping" this may be a different problem.

How do I remove the burr grinder for cleaning? Saeco Royal Exclusive

This is not a hard procedure, but you have to feel comfortable with DIY projects.
First empty the bean container. Vacuum out any remaining beans. Remove the philips screws from the hopper. Lift the hopper off. Vacuum any loose beans out. Remove the rubber gasket. You may clean this with a mild soap solution. Remove the grind adjustment lever- lift straight up with index fingers under the flange. Turn the outer ring with the holes counterclockwise, lift the center ring with the ears straight up when the outer ring is loose enough. The ring with the ears is the upper burr. Clean with a brush. Don't use water or other solutions. Vacuum the beans chamber and brush clean. Replace the upper burr ring matching the ears with the grooves. Turn the outer ring clockwise until it stops. Pull the inner ring to be sure it is locked. Now turn the outer ring back 13 clicks. Replace the rubber gasket. Replace the grinder adjustment lever- drop the lever flange inside on the outer ring with the lever grip loop over the top at #4. Press the flange with two fingers while supporting the outer ring from below. This seems tricky, but be patient. Replace the hopper and screws. Do any grinder adjustments while grinder is running with beans, it may take a few shots to be back at your preference grind! Good luck!
