Tl;dr: Hold power buttons for 20 seconds until it turns off, then turn it on again. If that doesn't work then follow the other steps.

Oops, double posted. I had the same problem as you and turning it off and on again worked, there's probably no need to update the firmware.

Hi,you need to rest your mp3 player...

How to Reset a Sansa Clip

The Sansa Clip is a high-quality MP3 player. It holds hundreds of songs and is built for portability. The "clip" allows you to attach it to your clothing or belt while you are working out or on the go. Even the best MP3 players can encounter some problems, and the Sansa Clip is no exception. If your Sansa Clip freezes up and does not respond, you may have to try resetting or reformatting it.

Instructions

Complete Reset

Turn Sansa Clip on. Press the "Menu" (home) button.

Press the bottom of the scroll wheel until you reach the "Settings" screen. Push the center button to choose "Settings."

Scroll down to "Reset All" and select. You'll be asked to confirm the reset. Select "Yes." This option will simply allow you to reset the language and location settings on your Sansa Clip. It will not erase data from the clip. To do a complete factory restore, follow Steps 4 and 5.

In the "Settings" menu, scroll down until you reach "Format" and then select. You will be asked to confirm that you wish to format. Select "Yes."

Wait for the screen to say "Formatting Complete." You have now cleared all the files from your Sansa Clip and reset it to factory settings.

Resetting a Frozen Sansa Clip

Push the power button up and hold it for 20 seconds. Release it, then turn it on again.

Go to the Sansa website and download the "Sansa Firmware Updater."

Select "Run" when the updater installs. (Installation will take less than two minutes.)
.

Wait for the Sansa Firmware Updater to run through its system test. It will ask you to connect the Sansa Clip to the computer to update your Sansa's software.

Connect the Sansa Clip. Remove it from the computer when instructed. If this process does not unfreeze your Sansa Clip, contact Sansa support at the Sansa Firmware Updater website.

Tips & Warnings

You should download the Sansa Firmware Updater to your computer even if you aren't having a problem with your Sansa. This will ensure that your device software remains up-to-date and free of technical glitches.

Reformatting the Sansa Clip will erase all songs and data on the device. Resetting will simply change your player's settings.

How to get unit to play without remote

You can probably use the front panel buttons (STOP PLAY OPEN/CLOSE etc) manually, the only thing you cannot do without the remote is access certain DVD menus, including subtitles/language/special features etc. You can always obtain and use a universal remote for basic menu functions later on if necessary.

To play a DVD movie without the remote, simply load your preferred disc, wait for the player to finish reading its contents, then to skip copyright warnings and/or the 'play movie' menu screen, press STOP, then PLAY, or simply press PLAY button where 'play movie' (or whatever function) is highlighted in the menu. These buttons should be on the front of the main unit. Doing this should encourage the player to detect the appropriate title (the movie) and play it (basic playback operation may not be possible with some DVD releases due to the numerous interactive menus and title pages, such as film trailers).

If basic manual operation is not completely possible with some DVD titles, consider a universal remote for your player if you have either lost your original, or the player was purchased/received without one. Such remotes are relatively inexpensive to purchase, and are available just about everywhere.

My fm radio stopped working on my creative zen vision, and the display is all messed up. It also freezes for about 20 minutes when I turn it on. After 20 minutes, it will play normal, but it freezes...

Player is Freezing
Keywords / Key Phrases: freeze, freezes, freezing, hang, hanging, freezes at creative logo, at docked screen, rebuilding library screen, playing audio files, switching to other functions or menus while shutting down, freezes at recovery mode, freezing at music playing now screen

  1. Gently push the end of a thin object (such as a pin or straightened paperclip) into the Reset hole.
The reset button for your player is located at the bottom of the player, to the left of the sync adapter port.

  2. Refer to the article below to access the recovery mode and perform a Clean Up.

SID 64088: Accessing the Recovery/Rescue Mode of your Player

    Note:

    1. Clean Up scans a player\'s hard disk/memory card and removes any invalid links from the music library. It does not affect the working music files at all. It is recommended that you perform "Clean Up" first before formatting or reloading the player\'s firmware.

    2. It is advisable for you to clean up your player regularly if you are frequently transferring files from you computer to your player or vice versa.

Turn on hangs on opening logo screen..center button="Read access error! Can't read from hard disk."

Possible causes and solutions

1 The hard drive within your player has failed, not uncommon and a real pain to fix for all but the real hands on techies. requires replacement hard disk likely same size required.
(unfortunately most likely problem) it will probably be accompanied by an unusual clicking noise coming from the player when held to your ear.

2 The hard drive within your player has become corrupt or something similar and requires formatting. Simple for any IT person to do. I'm no expert on this model and am too lazy to check but even holding down the reset button for 30 seconds or so may fix it.

Good luck hope i helped.

No sound

Look through the menus on the TV. There is probably a setting that allows you to turn them off and on.

Hope this helps, and please rate my advice, good OR bad.

Good luck!
