Your power/inverter board is in need of an overhaul.
The capacitors are failing and possibly a transistor.
If the screen showed any redness or pink whebn it was working, Then
there is a slight chance that one or more of the 4 lightbulbs in the
screen was going bad and finally went.
If you take it apart and send me a picture, I may be able to tell by looking at it.
I repair these boards on ebay

I have more or less the same problem. Mine only stays on for a second though, but it started out like yours. I took it apart and found that the CCFL bulbs at the top of the screen were so poorly put together that they arced out and in the end melted the end of the back panel bulbs off. The monitor only lasted a year and a half and now it's toast unless I can find new back panal bulbs.
If the screen feels excessivly hot around the corners or if you here a snapping noises (arcing) yours is going the same route as mine. If you want to get rid of yours I'll take it.

I have the same problem and I think its the circuit board on the power on button and blue led. I unplug the board when the monitor is on and then the monitor stays on and works OK.
It don't make any sence it is only 3 parts switch led connector
anybody else run into the problem
