Moen & One Handle Tub & Shower Faucet Logo
Anonymous Posted on Dec 17, 2010

We recently installed a Moen single handle faucet in a refinished shower after having a plumber replumb the front of our house. Handle appears to be properly installed. Now there is no hot water or even water flow at all when we turn the handle to hot. The cold water in the shower flows just fine. There's a sink in the bathroom as well which has hot water. What is most likely the cause when there is no flow of water at all when a single handle faucet is turned all the way to hot? Hope this makes sense.

Thank You very much for your input both of you. Very surprised how quickly you responded. Still trying to figure it out, just relieved on some level we're not dealing with a total anomaly.

I have had this happen a few times and when all else failed I just replaced the cartridges and this solved the problems. However these were not posi-temp or pressure balence valves. Hope this helps you. Thanks

We have a Moen one handle faucet in the bathtub. It was installed opposite for water but I see the answer to that question is to flip the cartridge. Well, now the appears that something is stripped as...

If the handle spins, but the cartridge remains stationary, then the stop inside the handle is broken and the handle must be replaced. To test, remove handle and see if you can turn the stem with a pliers. If you can turn the water on, then I'm right. Replace the handle. If not, then you have me stumped.

Single head scald resistant shower fixture. Needs new cartridge. Took screw out plumber cannot get handle off. Called moen it is a 2001 model. But they said cannot help me. Need to cut off and get new...

There are several products that can be used to loosen the corrosion holding the handle in place. The Works is one product along with CLR. The easiest fix is to wrap a washcloth soaked in distilled white vinegar around the handle. Let it soak for 20 minutes at a time. It could take a half dozen times or more, but eventually it will work. Rinse the faucet after each application to remove the acid. You may also need to use this process to remove the Moen faucet cartridge.

Delta shower faucet with a single handle lose

You need a faucet handle puller, you can get these at most home center and hardware/plumbing stores.
Once you get the handle and cover off you might just find that the control was never fully mounted.

Moen Single Handle Shower Faucet-turn on get cold, little hot

You can try to rotate the first plastic ring to the left of center a few teeth, this will let the handle advance alittle more to the hot side.

The plumber soldered in the faucet without removing the cartridge, the o-rings are melted. Have the builder replace the o-rings.

Plumbing

Hi rbyerly,

I'm Harvey the Master Plumber.

Your problem is:
remodeled bathroom, installed new moen valve and hardware. Now water is coming from both the shower head and the faucet when the diverter is in the down postion. Question; Is this a single handle or three handle diverter? Assuming it's a three handle, it should just be a mater of adjusting the center handle. If single, the diverter is in the spout not the valve. I don't know how to direct you further without specifics. Feel free contact me again!
